What can I say. The hotel was in much need of a complete refurbishment. The room itself was windy and as the sash windows let all of the wind through, someone came up with the idea of putting sliding doors on the inside of the room to stop this. Oh how wrong they were!!! They didn't even stay shut so spent the whole night awake by the wind knocking everything in the room!!

After lack of sleep and a missing window in the bathroom, we also found out that the emergency exit escape door was open, the whole night as wouldn't actually stay shut because of the wind. You could hear everyone's conversations word for word as the walls were so thin and to top it off, the shower has only scalding hot or freezing cold water!!

Think twice before booking here.

Wanted to break up 3 hour drive to Dorset so chose Grosvenor Hotel for location and pictures of hotel on website. Advised hotel would check in late, which was fine. Unfortunately, superior room was not as expected. Bathroom had mold on internal wall and needed cleaning and updating. Bedroom was 1970's rather than characteristic. Open fire in the bar area was not lit, which was a real shame. Bar prices were quite expensive. Breakfast was dried having been overcooked. Staff were friendly. Overall a bit disappointed and don't think worth the £80 money paid - which was non-refundable after booking.

Rocking up here on a Friday afternoon with a friend, hoping to get a bite to eat. One lady serving at the bar was joined by another who didn't appear to be too keen to do much, but I did eventually get served. Overheard them discussing whether the kitchen was open, and on politely querying this was told 'I don't know but will let you know'. She didn't so went to the bar again to be told the kitchen was in fact open. Ordered our food (Vegetarian Burgers), which when they arrived were just plonked on the table rather unceremoniously; we weren't asked if we wanted any sauces. The food was perfectly adequate. The bar is small and was really untidy, with tables having been pushed together for a bigger party and not cleared of dirty plates/glasses - not a great impression. On venturing to the 'loos, other areas of the hotel appears to be very tired indeed. This is such an imposing building right in the middle of the high street of this very upmarket village, it could be made so much nicer. Normally I'm a fan of Greene King/ Old English Inn places but I won't be returning here any time soon.

We stayed in a group to visit the Christmas Market in Winchester. The town is small but very picturesque.
The rooms were well furnished and warm.
The breakfasts were great, a good choice and well presented. The evening meals were also good, we originally were only going to have one evening meal and the following evening go elsewhere but decided not to bother.
The only downside was the bar area, we struggled to get a large enough table for 9, one of our group asked for a coffee about 11.00pm and we were told the 'machine was turned off' and they stopped serving drinks at normal closing time even though we were staying there.
We would return but spend the evening elsewhere next time. A big loss to the Grosvenor.

This place really should be THE place to stay in Stockbridge but It needs a couple of million spending on it. It's got the history but really disappoints on all fronts.
The good bits - The room was spacious and some of the furniture was really solid and impressive, lovely big four poster bed and really comfy, nice pillows and sheets.
The bad bits - The bathroom looked like something from the sixties and we seemed to have a loo that didn't flush - needs seriously updating. The corridor to the room was very dark as the bulb had gone. Mentioned this to reception early in the evening but still wasn't remedied the next day.
Breakfast was average. We had the curry on the Wednesday evening and it was very disappointing, basically it was a supermarket curry sauce out of a jar with some chicken thrown in and a packet naan bread warmed up. Also there was supposed to be a drink included with the meal which was never offered. Won't be eating there again. I would grade the food as Poor.
The staff are a bit of a mixture, there is one really nice polite young man behind the bar but then there is a Mr Grumpy as well. Overall big disappointment.

We have eaten here on many occasions, and always had good food and excellent service;
two important reasons why we will always return here.
We decided to have our Wedding Reception here, and it was our best decision; as the Hotel staff did a first class job. The food was enjoyed by everyone, and the service throughout was perfect.
Many of our guests spent a couple of days at the Hotel; and they were all happy with their rooms,
facilities, food and service.
We can't thank Maggie and Owen enough for making our day amazing, and paying attention
to every last detail.
The Grosvenor is a beautiful old Hotel, full of charm and character. With 5 star service.

Room Tip: We had the four poster......lovely huge room.

We had lunch at the Grosvenor. The menu was varied and the food was excellent. Special mention needs to be made of Tom, our waiter, who was welcoming and attentive without being obsequious. He will go far.
