We opted for the 2 night mid week break with three course dinner included. We had our two children with us and they selected from the main menu which for them was half price and half portions (though to be fair the main courses were like full portions).
The evening food is fabulous! A wide selection and everything we had was quite simply superb. There are no restrictions on choices under this deal - even the lobster had no supplement.
I wouldn't rave about the accommodation - it is OK and did the job. The hot tub was good fun and our children enjoyed that. However, we had no hot water in our rooms for showers the first night and I see from another review that the hot water is switched off through the day - this seems a petty saving.
I couldn't rate the evening food highly enough - some reviews have said it is expensive but we are talking top quality here and good portions so bearing that in mind it is great value. We probably wouldn't stay again, and the continental breakfasts are 'fine' but nothing to write home about, but we will certainly return for an evening meal when staying in the area.

This was a one night stay en route to a holiday in the West Country.

This is a mixed review. Much to appreciate, especially the room (in the coach house) which was a fair size and very clean and functional, with a good large comfortable bed. The food was also of a high standard,

However, we were surprised at the price of the evening meal; for example a gravadlax starter at £11.75 and a lamb main course at £23.50 and these were certainly not the most expensive items on the menu. From memory, the least expensive starter was soup at about £7.

The restaurant itself is pleasant, but in no way outstanding, with a vivid highly patterned carpet throughout, which could do with replacing and unexceptional pine tables. For the prices we paid for the meal we would have expected something more upmarket.

Service was okay but not exceptional and when we turned up for breakfast at the time we had been asked to specify, the whole of the main building was locked and no arrived up to let us in until 20 minutes later.

All in all The Three Lions is fine, and we wouldn't want people not to stay or dine there, but just be aware that the prices (particularly the for the food) are pretty steep. We've had many similar stays elsewhere which were comparable or better, and were less expensive.

Room Tip: We had a very comfortable courtyard room which we shared with our dog.

I stayed one night arriving at around seven in the evening. There is plenty of parking and is very clean and well positioned close to the new Forrest. It was slightly awkward finding someone to check in with as they were looking after people in the restaurant and the bar seems to act as reception. once I had checked in they were very helpful showing me to my room and explaining everything I needed to know. The room was quiet, clean, well decorated and the shower was superb! In the morning I decided to go for a run, as it's situated on a fairly quiet road it was safe and picturesque and after only about 1 mile it opened up into some beautiful contryside if trail running is your thing! Breakfast was fine if a little expensive but took a little while to arrive, which would not be an issue if I was staying for pleasure not business. I would definitely go back.

This restaurant with rooms ( seven ) serves very good food which only falls short of excellent as it is the Chef tires too hard and outs too many things on the plate. His flavouring ( sauces etc) is first class,. Pigeon breast had a hint of orange in the jus - just a hint . The liquorice ice cream works brilliantly with grilled pineapple.

Clean well appointed rooms .

We stayed for a two day mini break inclusive of room, dinner and breakfast. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with french doors leading to the gardens. We were somewhat apprehensive before arrival because of the awful June weather we are having but the heating in the room was on and was easy to control to our own taste. The whole place has a quiet, informal, friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The dinners were superb with a selection of good inexpensive house wines. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We booked last minute as an unexpected business meeting was arranged. We did not expect it to be as enjoyable. The Three Lions has an elegant rustic atmosphere. Our room was spacious and quiet. The attention to detail was excellent, too many to mention. We will be going again to sample the restaurant food. I can't wait!

Stayed here in December 2011. A lovely place and the rooms were outstanding. Unfortunately on the night I and 10 friends were staying the electricity in the area failed about 18.00 and did not come back on till 23.00. No only did they have us, but there was another group of about 15 in for dinner but it seemed not to faze the chef one iota. The menu, quite understandably was slightly reduced but there was still plenty of choice and the meal was very good indeed. I would certainly stay again. One very minor point if you book bed and breakfast is that the breakfast is only continental. This is not made plain on their web site and if it is in the room I missed it. Also when asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast no mention was made of the extra charge and £9.50 for bacon, eggs and sausages is a little steep. But do not let that put you off go and stay, you will enjoy the place.
