Stayed in June 2012. The owners were away but we were well looked after by their stand-ins who made us tea when we arrived. The room was a good size with a seating area which came in handy. Breakfasts were fine, and the B&B is handy for Lyndhurst - around 15-20 mins walk away. As noted on a few reviews the B&B is on a busy main road with continual traffic day and night which could be a problem for some people. We had a look at the pub next door but it didn't look especially welcoming so we ate at a pub called the Hobler, which was around 15 minutes' drive, between Brockenhurst and Lymington.

We stayed 2 nights at Clayhill House before going on a cruise from Southampton. Lovely place to stay, breakfast was very enjoyable with lots of choice, accommodation very clean and well kept, we stayed in the room at the back which we would recommend as it as quieter than the rooms at the front as the house is on a very busy and noisy main road. Another reason we stayed here was because it was near the local pub, unfortunately was not a pub we would recommend.

Room Tip: Choose the room at the back as it is quieter.

Spent three nights in March and had a lovely time. A nice old house with a bit of character, very friendly people running the establishment who are better than a guide book when it comes to knowing what to see and do.

Nice breakfast in the morning, would happily stay there again.

Room Tip: Back rooms are quieter.

stayed for 6 nights 4th march to 10th march 2012, we were made a lovely cup of tea on arrival, by mike, son of chris and margaret, our room (3) was facing the front of the house, and although we had read about noise being a problem it did not bother us at all, after all if you book at a guest house which is on a main road what do you expect. the breakfasts were fabulous, the eggs were gorgeous, this could be due to the fact that the chickens live in the garden, the whole family were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, also they were very knowledgeable about the local area and able to offer advice on what to see and where to eat. the room itself was beautiful, bed was made and towels changed daily and the lovely touches ie sweets, tissues, etc was very good.all in all a wonderful stay

Room Tip: only 3 rooms so book early.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights end of November 2011. We had a very pleasant stay. Was welcomed by Chris, the owner and he was very welcoming and friendly. The B&B is in an ideal location to explore the New Forest. 15 min walk into Lyndhurst and short drive to Brockenhurst, Beaulieu and Lymington. The forest is also right by the B&B so you can walk right into the forest from the B&B.
Breakfast was very tasty cooked to order with plenty to choose from.
Our room was number 3 which did overlook the main road at the front of the house so there was a lot of traffic noise. This didn't bother us much though as we were out most of the day and at night time the traffic was very slight or non existant. The room itself though (and bathroom) were very clean and comfortable.
There is a pub next door called the Crown Stirrup which we recommend. Excellent food, service and relaxed atmosphere. Definielty worth a visit!
Overall a lovely stay. If stayed there again would try and get one of the rooms at the back of the house so it's quieter and the car park is quite small so not good if you've got a large 4x4 or something!
Also, we thought it a little odd that Margaret, (Chris' wife and co-owner) didn't make herself known to us throughout our stay but we thought maybe Chris was front of house and she helped out behind the scenes.
But a lovely stay and would recommend Clayhill House to others.

Room Tip: try and book rooms 1 or 2 as room 3 is at the front so you get a lot of traffic noise during the day...

We stayed here in March 2011, 3 nights for the price of 2 - absolute bargain.
As soon as we arrived, we were offered tea/coffee - most welcome!
Lovely room, very clean - most impressed - breakfast was delicious and really set us up for the day - just minutes from the forest, a perfect base for walkers and really close to Salisbury - perfect for shoppers!
