“Lovely Break in a perfect B&B”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

Last minute break to the New forest was made even more special by the wonderful reception we received from our hosts Cynthia and Fred who used to run Clay Hill until the current owners took over. It felt like home from home in the truest sense, very relaxed and cosy with more than adequate facilities for us and I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking to stay in the New Forest, as it has a very good central location for visiting the many activities you can do in the surrounding areas.
I look forward to seeing them again and staying at Clay Hill
Thankyou! Charlie & Neil

I am not a hotel inspector, so do not conduct a thorough search for minor imperfections.
I am a normal tourist looking for clean, comfortable, convenient accommodation.
As such I enthusiastically endorse the positive comments posted by the vast majority of guests at Clayhill House.
Some features provide added value. A friendly welcome with considerate service as well as providing sound advice on local eating / drinking. A convenient location, making it easy to find and easy to reach other parts of the New Forest. (Traffic noise did not disturb my sleep!). Bigger than average rooms with a comfortable seating area. A multitude of thoughtful individual touches that make the stay even more comfortable. Overall an enjoyable experience! I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

Quirky house with lovely personal touches and really friendly owners who love to chat and are ready with recommendations! They also provide a much-needed cup of tea on arrival! Super clean room/house with comfy bed, good shower and plenty of tea/coffee choice in the room. Breakfast was delicious and again, plenty of choice with old-fashioned but high-quality crockery which was a very nice touch. Despite being on a main road, it was actually the perfect location for exploring the New Forest with access to the forest just a few minutes walk away and plenty of good pubs/restaurants within a short drive. The noise of the main road didn't disturb us (may be down to how tired we were after our 10 mile walk!) and we felt well rested and relaxed after the weekend. There are plenty of leaflets and maps in the breakfast room to keep you informed and I'd advise you listen to the owners' recommendations for food as they got it spot on! La Pergola Italian restaurant was amazing and The Oak Inn was the best pub we've ever been to so give those a try! Would definitely recommend this place and will be returning in the summer.

Off street parking. Door bell wasn't working so went around to back off house to private entrance. Comfortable, room 3, clean. Extra touches with lollies in a dish on the dressing table.
Tea, coffee, hairdryer, TV, shampoo, shower gel in room. Coffee on arrival. Could not have the window open because of the road noise. Great breakfast. Old fashion china reminded me of my Nana's house, with little mesh covers with beads around the edge as a cover on the jug.

Stayed here for three nights with a friend who was househunting in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found our room to be very comfortable with lots of thoughtful little touches. It was spotless, bright and airy and the sitting area, with comfy chairs and flat screen tele, was perfect. The ensuite shower room was small but adequate. Thoughtful touches included toiletries, bottled water and biscuits for tea/coffee etc, little chocolate bars, & sweets. Breakfast was great with everything you could possibly want to eat - including fresh eggs from the owner's chickens to delicious homemade jams. The only slight negative was that the house is on a busy road and we found it difficult to sleep on our first night. However, on the other nights we slept like babies so this didn't spoil our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the house will be quieter.

Quirkly little house, ideal for busy tourists who just need somewhere to have a cup of tea and lay their heads after a long day/night out. Rooms quaint and clean, bed was comfy. Only real issue was the busy main road next to the house, made it difficult to drift off at first. But owners were chatty and helpful, no complaints really!

A fab little B and B. Brilliant friendly hosting, a beautiful room at the front of the house and the best ever breakfast with the most delicious jams i have ever tasted. We walked for miles on our first day across the Forest and didn't even need to use the car and had the best meal ever at the Oak just a taxi drive away as recommended by the lovely owner.

If you are reading reviews don't listen to the rubbish ones. This is a special little place.
