Fantastic two night stay- although the kitchen was out of service they still provided a lovely Buffett breakfast and staff seemed helpful. All staff were friendly to us and engaged in conversation if at the bar. Lovely room, not massive (4 poster room) but perfect for two nights and an amazing bathroom with a great shower!

Overall really pleased so thanks very much- wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Great hotel with some history and with friendly helpful staff. Our room felt small but was well equip. The dinner menu is quite good and what we chose and eat was tasty. However, I did find the wine a bit over priced. The Breakfast buffet was excellent.

This hotel is situated in the heart of the New Forest, a great vantage for walks site seeing, with the coast and ferry crossing to the Isle of Wight only a few miles away. I would recommended a stay here.

My husband and I have stayed here on a number of occasions and we have never been disappointed, from the minute you walk into the lobby you are greeted by the friendly staff. The rooms have always been clean, spacious and comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee available We haven't used the restaurant in the evenings but have always enjoyed the breakfast which has lots of options and is freshly prepared. The hotel is ideally positioned for anyone wishing to explore the surrounding forest. we will be returning to this beautiful hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms with the four posters are amazing.

On arrival at the room we were greeted with the bed against the wall, water dripping through the ceiling and containers on the carpet catching the water. The "free" dinner if you book 3 nights including a weekend, part of the offer was not honoured because we "didn't book it on line" - but we did! ...and paid for it on arrival. In any case the price with a free dinner was dearer than the rate without dinner - confusing?

The next day the room card didn't open the door when we got back from a lovely day out at about 5pm. A new card was provided by reception, and on entering the room it hadn't been made up. Perhaps the maid had the same problem?

The female reception staff were excellent, but the guy who booked us in was a Basil Fawlty clone. "you can't have the offer because..."; he needed to check the original room before reallocating us to one with a bed...; the manager wasn't available and we would need to arrange to contact him ourselves (what happened to customer service ownership / empowerment of staff?)

On the other hand, hotel is centrally located, room and bed was comfortable, has it's own car park, a lift, bar restaurant, breakfast, although buffet, was fine.

Just a pity that when things went wrong customer service and redress was very poor.

Dear Steve P,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, as all feedback is greatly valued, as it helps us strive to achieve the best service levels possible.

I am pleased that you found the hotel's location to be good, and that you enjoyed the facilties offered including the complimentary car parking.

I would like to apologise for the inconvenience you experienced, with your initial room. Upon investigation it appears that you checked-in, just as Housekeeping were about to advise Reception of the maintenance issue, and ask for this room to be put 'out of service'. This issue has now been rectified, as it was caused by the excessive rain during the recent storm.

I have checked your reservation, and can confirm this was booked for two nights direct with the hotel, the additional night being booked through booking.com, as such, I am sorry that it was not possible to amend your reservation to the Free Dinner Weekend Break.

I am sorry that upon returning to the hotel on one of the days your room had not been serviced, and this has been brought to the attention of the Housekeeper.

I hope very much that you will choose to return to us on a future occasion, so that you can see that what you experienced was very much the exception and not the norm.

Please do not hesitate to contact me, so that I can personally look after your reservation.

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Crown Manor Hotel with my husband to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary.
It was easy enough to find and situated on the main high street road. The main road is busy, but this is not heard from the rooms, although it does spoil the new forest experience slightly.
We had booked a 3 night deal including B&B which was a good price. Upon check in we were told the kitchen was still out of action due to a power problem. We were not bothered by this as breakfast was unaffected and there were plenty of nearby places to eat which were a lot cheaper than the hotel. Looking at previous reviews you will see that the power problem in their kitchen seems to be ongoing for a month now!!
We could check in from 2pm, but did not arrive until 4pm so it was surprising to see that the chairs in the corridor leading to our room was filled with dirty linen and vacuum cleaners and did not yet appear ready for the new guests. Our room key also did not work on first attempt and we had to go and get another one.
We stayed in a standard double room which although compact, was nicely decorated and the shower was brilliant.
One of the large towels in our room was filthy and not changed once in the 3 days we stayed despite leaving it out to be changed. The heating didn't seem to work in our room, but luckily it wasn't too cold.
The first night we stayed (Sunday) they had a birthday party being held there. Our room was right above the party and it was extremely loud until 11pm. This was quite annoying as we were not advised and felt like we couldn't gatecrash the party either. If we were warned, we would have stayed out for longer.
We found we used the car to get out and about mostly as there is not a lot to see or do close to the hotel especially if the weather isn't great.
Breakfast was really yummy and there is a very large variety, although it is run as a bit of a shambles with staff snapping at each other and generally giving off the impression that they are understaffed (but to be honest, some of them just seemed very slow).
If the price was right we would stay again. But nothing to sing and dance about!
