This is my second stay at this wonderful hotel.

Did I just strike it lucky on my first stay indeed not. The same excellent customer service was given 'luggage carried to my room' while I took the amazing lift to my chosen room. I chose my room 202 because it's just lovely. Beautifully furnished, crisp white bed linen, spotless bathroom with delicious bath products. It is a bijoux room just the right size for one person travelling on business.

Breakfast is good with plenty of choice to meet all dietary needs. Will I be staying again most definitely, next time for a weekend break with my dear husband. Thank you for looking after me when I'm away from home Crown Manor - looking forward to my next visit already.

We had stayed in this hotel some years ago prior to the refurbishment. On this occasion we arrived without prior booking and were given a very reasonable rate. Staff on reception very helpful. Room and particularly bathroom very good with excellent shower. Breakfast was excellent; cooked to order as hotel quiet just prior to Christmas. Ambiance of the hotel is lovely and relaxing & staff very helpful without being intrusive. We will return and next time will book in advance. A great location in the heart of Lyndhurst.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the busy road are a bit noisy with the traffic early in the morning. Try for a roo...

Just returned from a lovely three night weekend BREAK at the crown. Both myself and partner were regular guests at the crown when it was part of the best Western chain On our last visit a year ago the renovations were a work in progress and what a fantastic success they have made of it. The whole hotel has a new and vibrant look the bedrooms have been done to a very high standard and no expensive spared in the bathroom I will go as far as to say it's the best shower I've had in any hotel. It was a very busy weekend but we had no trouble getting a table and there buffet breakfast is superb. If there is one fault it would be at dinner portions a little on small Sid could do with a selection of vegetables to accompany it. However that's not to take away from the great quality of the food. All in all a great weekend lovely room great hotel and nothing to much for the staff. Looking forward to going back soon.

We stayed for a week at the hotel over the August Bank Holiday. We started off in the lovely King Rufus Suite with a sunken living room and beautiful bathroom. Unfortunately, after a few days into our holiday the hotel had to move us into another room. Although they stated that the second room was also a Family Suite, it definitely was not. The second room would have been fine for a couple, but moving a chair and adding a foldaway bed does not a family "suite" make. We felt crowded and uncomfortable the remainder of our stay. Requests to be moved to a larger room were rejected.

The staff were all friendly and assumed a variety of jobs around the hotel. One staff member was particularly attentive to our family, even going so far as to make special hot chocolate for our daughter.

We didn't have the opportunity to eat lunch at the hotel and only had one dinner there. The food was good and the service was very good.

We ate breakfast (included) nearly every day. The dining room was clean, comfortable, and inviting. There was a good assortment of food available, buffet style. Drinks were served at the table and staff checked throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was acceptable except for the scrambled eggs. Do they still make powdered eggs? I've never had them before, but suspect that was what was served at the hotel. The eggs felt powdery on the tongue, had a peculiar taste, and a greenish tinge. I tried some every day, thinking that surely they would get better. They didn't. Stick with the fried eggs if you know what's good for you.

If you smoke, be sure that you don't in the hotel. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night because some guest didn't obey the rules. Never have I heard anything quite so loud! Fortunately, staff were quickly able to turn the alarm off and find the offending guest.

There's a small car park in the rear of the hotel, down a fairly steep, winding drive. Our rented Mercedes estate car barely fit in the spaces provided. If you have a Range Rover or other large SUV, you may have a bit of trouble parking if the hotel is full.

On the whole, we had a good experience. Would we return? Yes, especially if we could stay in one of the suites.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front overlook a very busy (one way) high street, but noise shouldn't be an issue e...

My other half and I spotted this hotel on Groupon. It offered dinner, bed & breakfast for a very reasonable price. We stayed on a Friday night and the hotel was reasonably full. We were greeted by a very welcoming receptionist and were able to check into our room as soon as we arrived.
The room itself was very spacious with a bigger than kingsize bed which had very clean and crisp white linen. The bathroom was itself quite sizeable with both a bath and dual functioning shower. We had plenty of wardrobe space which also housed a iron & ironing board and a good quality hair dryer (ladies will know what I mean!). The room was very clean as was every part of the hotel we visited.
Our dinner in the evening was very enjoyable and afterwards we relaxed in the lounge until it was time for bed.
Although we had to wait for about 10 minutes to be seated for breakfast it was well worth it. There was everything you could have possibly wanted; from cereal, to continental to a full English. We both opted for the full English and you could tell that all the components we selected from the very wide choice, were all fresh, a good quality and very well cooked. The only thing that could be improved was the orange juice.
During our stary, the staff were very helpful, approachable and couldn't do enough for you. We will certainly be looking to return.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 121 and didn't hear any noise at all. The room was very spacious as was the b...

We stayed at this old and interesting hotel for two nights before Christmas .If you want to eat dinner there during the evening it is important when you book your stay that you book a table at the time you require. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast for the first night and assumed that there would be a table available for us especially as nobody asked us to book a table before our visit. However, when we arrived the only table available was for 6.30 p.m. As we had only arrived at 5.30, after a long and tedious journey, there was little time for a leisurely bath and drink before dinner. Our rooms were comfortable and well appointed, however the road outside is very busy and rooms at the back of the hotel are probably quieter, especially as two different alarms went off outside during the night! Although we had to eat so early the food was excellent. The menu was a little limited especially if like me you don't eat meat. However the food was delicious. We eat breakfast in the hotel both mornings and they were good. You need to judge your breakfast time carefully as on the Sunday there was quite a wait for tables. however the Manager brought us coffee and tea in the lounge whilst we waited. The Manager of this hotel is excellent, he takes a real interest in his clients and really tries to solve any problems. He seems to be very much involved in all aspects of the hotel. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Parking was difficult on the first night as the hotel was busy, just managed to find the last place. On the whole, apart from the continuous rain, a good weekend!

Room Tip: Suggest you ask for a room at the back away from the busy road

We had a Dinner Bed & Breakfast break as a Christmas gift and it was certainly a real treat. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, the room was comfortable and well appointed, with an obviously newly-refurbished shower room. Dinner was enjoyable, service was excellent. Had a bit of trouble adjusting to the dimly lit corridors where lights were motion-activated. Not so good maybe for us old'uns!

Breakfast was disappointing (in our experience it's where even the best hotels can let themselves down). Only two cereals on offer - no 'healthy' cereals at all .Although coffee was presented in cafetieres it wasn't fresh coffee and it was tepid once milk was added. The buffet style cooked breakfast went onto cold plates and the food was lukewarm. Is that safe? Isn't cooked food supposed to be kept at a certain temperature?.

Anyway, we're now on the mailing list and if the mythical? 50p room ever comes up or indeed any more realistically-priced offers, we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear to avoid traffic noise
