We spent 4 nights in this hotel and loved the the charm and atmosphere of the place, We only had breakfast in the hotel which was very good the staff were very friendly and on the ball with their service. The room was very clean and nicely decorated but was a little small, if we stayed again we would upgrade to a larger room, There was no Air con in the room but being at the rear of the hotel having the window open was not a problem. There was ample parking and a nice small garden to the rear.

Room Tip: Book a larger room and one at the rear as there may be road noise in a front room.

This is an impressive hotel in an ideal location for exploring the New Foreat - you could easily leave your car in the car park all week and use the open top buses to explore the sights, or even walk or cycle. There is an undercover bike store which is a nice touch in this location.
There are a few opportunities missed in my opinion though, to make this hotel live up to it's boutique hotel claim.
We booked a four poster room as this seemed to be on par with a superior double. When I've stayed in other hotels in a similar price range I've been treated to Lovely toiletries (even, at one hotel, a beautiful decanter of bubble bath) but here we had premier inn-sequel containers fastened to the wall for hand wash, hair/body wash and conditioner.
No soft, fluffy towels here, but scratchy thin ones on all 3 days of our stay.
The hospitality tray in our room had an ungenerous twin pack of biscuits for us to share and only two sachets of caffeinated coffee among the decaf - yes, we could get more from reception but that's hardly the point.
On a positive note, the room was well furnished and clean and the bathroom modern and with rainforest shower over the bath. The staff were polite and quite helpful.
Breakfast was a serve yourself buffet which was tasty, hot and fresh. Sachets of sauces (rather than whole bottles) and cook your own toast were a little disappointing. The bread/pastry selection was limited.
We had one evening meal in the restaurant - the food was delicious, if a little luke warm. The tender stem broccoli side order wasn't tender stem - but overall it was a good meal.
I don't want to sound like a moaner, but this was a rare teenage free break and I was hoping to feel pampered and treated - a few simple and relatively inexpensive tweaks would have made all the difference.

Room Tip: Room 215 has aircon

This was a good base for our weekend in the New Forest. The hotel is generally to a high standard, and probably one of the best value options available. The bathrooms are particularly good, with rain showers. If you arrive by train, you will need to take a taxi to Lyndhurst, which is a fairly short journey. However, at busy times it can be difficult to get a taxi, so try to plan in advance. Breakfast was a buffet, and generally good quality. When we visited it was a particularly hot weekend. Although fans were provided and sheets offered instead of duvets, the room was still extremely hot. There is no AC, this being a historic building, so although the staff were very apologetic, they were unable to do anything more.

Lovely hotel, pleasant rooms with lovely bathrooms, food from the grill was very nice and reasonably priced. On site parking was very helpfull due to Lyndhurst being a small village, kind and friendly staff. Breakfast was buffett style which was good :)

This is a good old fashioned hotel with easy access to the New Forest and the coast.

Good service, comfortable room, excellent breakfast.

Free car park. We were three for five days.

A good place to stay in an interesting town, Lyndhurst.

Room Tip: Select first or second floor as the third floor rooms are hot.

Good hotel in centre, a big advantage is the large rear car park. The hotel has a number of comfortable indoor lounges, and a few tables in their rear garden. Breakfast has all the usual options, self service, and is served in a lovely room. Their were plenty of staff to assist.
We had a large four poster room, 107, at the front which was very comfortable, and had the benefit of air con, which on a sultry August evening was welcome. The only thing to consider with this room is that it is opposite the stairs and first floor landing, which can get noisy at night as people say their good nights, but overall a very hotel, which I would return to, but would ask for a different room.

Room Tip: 107 can be noisy as opposite stairs and people stop and talk/laugh
