Owner description: There is a viewing platform for deer. Picturesque forest and national park for the family. Very picturesque and ponies wonder around. It was very busy Easter Weekend but still and enjoyable day out, getting back to nature.

Spotted off for an hours walk and to visit the deer. Like all the walks in new forest it's all clearly signposted with well looked after toilets. The deer viewing station could perhaps be a bit larger as it was quite busy when we were there a we had to wait for space to become available.

It would also be a great idea to have some fixed binoculars on posts as the deer sit a little way from the platform.

The walk was enjoyable although quite steep for someone with painful joints! The guide says "gentle slope".. I'd hate to walk up what they think is a harsh slope! There seems to be quite a bit of work going on in the tree areas as a lots of the space was cut down.. But rest of scenery is as pretty as any other part of the forest!

Spent 45 minutes here, didn't see any deer in the designated areas, I'm sure they were around somewhere we just didn't have the patience to wait. The stop was still worth it to take in the beauty of the New Forest, although personally I liked the Blackwater Arboretum much better myself, with its fantastic 1.5 mile circular walk of the tall trees.

Have been a few times - you wont always see dear but they may be in the other fields which you can see round the sides if you wish

The countryside around is very scenic as well though the noise from the a31 can be a little intrusive as you get closer

Fantastic place to go for a walk and take a picnic, stunned we've not been here despite having lived down here for 18 years. The weather was superb but any clear still day would be best. Go at dawn or dusk and you can see potentially four breeds of deer.

Stand a while and await the arrival of the deer, sometimes you do have to wait awhile but it is worth it.
