Travelling back from the North to to Dorset, just off the A31 - a great stop for lunch. In a the pretty village of Minstead. Had the special of Smoked Haddock and my hubby the Rump "sandwich" all very tasty . The staff very pleasant. There is a great walk from there takes about an hour - did it a few years back, when we stopped there before. It takes you to the church where Arthur Conan Doyle and his wife are buried - and then round thru the forest back to the pub. The directions are printed on the back of the menu. With the sun shining a great stop on a lovely autumn day

We have been visiting this pub for the last 7 years and the new landlords (they have been there for approx 18months) have finally got it right.

Large, dog friendly garden at the rear with plenty of outside seating.

Friendly and efficient staff and a menu to die for even on a Sunday when some places tend to abbreviate their normal menus.

We both opted for the Sunday Roast, pork for me and chicken for my husband. They were both absolutely fantastic. Lots of different veg, all cooked beautifully and yummy tasty gravy. My crackling was perfection. It wasn't the cheapest roast around however when you receive a meal that is cooked so wonderfully I don't mind paying for it.

We ate out four times in the New Forest this weekend and this was by far and above the best.

Would definitely recommend and we will definfitely be returning next time we visit the New Forest.

Set in the heart of the New Forest, but still easy to access, this was the idea location for us to meet up with friends for a pub lunch. On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile and shown to our table. The menu is extensive and there are several real ales so we were spoilt for choice! The starters are very generous so ideal as a main course if you have a small appetite. Service was very good and the food cooked perfectly. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We ate inside but there is a lovely garden and they welcome dogs so our friends will bring theirs when we meet next time!

My partner and I were on holiday with family in August. We decided to go for a leisurely walk to find this pub, it was so worth the walk. It appeared quiet at first staff friendly and helpful, food arrived quickly after being ordered. Value for money I'd say :) would definately recommend eating here. Dogs welcome, large garden area for families and children to the rear of the pub. Will certainly be going back.

We were driving back to London on the A31 and suddenly had the great idea of taking a small detour for lunch in the New Forest before hitting the M3. Quickly brought up Trip Advisor on my phone, found glowing reviews of the Trusty Servant and 10 minutes later we were pulling up outside.

And what a great decision that was. Right from the start the landlady and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. They had a huge selection of food on the menu and a good choice of Sunday lunches up on the board, not to mention a decent selection of ales behind the bar.

We had a lovely lunch in the back garden with our small children and all of us enjoyed it immensely. In the end we found it difficult to leave and set off for home.

I'd highly recommend the Trusty Servant to anyone. It's certainly an excellent place to have lunch.
