We stayed for 5 nights here and the room was lovely as was the garden it looked out onto. Carol and David are very kind, friendly and thoughtful. The nearest pub is the Lamb Inn (great food), which is a nice relatively short walk through the woods, there is also the Green Dragon and the Bell Inn in Brook, just down the road. Breakfast was fantastic! We enjoyed seeing plenty of cats, lots of wildlife and New Forest ponies, as well as the free roaming pigs and the peacock. Thoroughly recommended!

If you have reason to go to the New Forest area and don't mind travelling from the northern area of Bramshaw (15 minutes from Lyndhurst) then do consider Wych Green Cottage. Carol and David have a lovely cottage with bedrooms or a choice of two outside detached rooms. We had the converted stable which was very comfortable with a good double bed, plenty of high pressure hot water in the shower (not electric) and a choice of hot drinks and biscuits. A tiny fridge secluded two bottles of mineral water at no extra charge! The FE breakfast was as much as one could eat and all sourced locally, and their own free range chickens provided the eggs which were lovely. Although the cottage is located near a road cars are infrequent and cant be heard as speeding motorists are slowed by a wide range of farm and wild animals! Funny, I'd never seen a peacock fly until my terrier Ruby chased one off the green!

We will go again, thank you Carol and David.

Uncomplicated and friendly booking, easy to follow directions and a warm welcome. Our log cabin was spotlessly clean, welcoming, warm and contains everything you might need - really the owners have thought of everything. It's quiet, if you don't mind the peacocks, ponies, sheep, pigs, all of which roam wild and are simply enchanting. Breakfast included, David and Carol will attend to your every need, in a lovely breakfast room, with attention to detail (e.g. napkins and not paper serviettes). Everything in the cabin works, room is cleaned and tidied every day, coffee, tea, biscuits etc in room. A super base to tour the surrounding area: Salisbury, Old Sarum, Stone Henge, Beaulieu, Winchester, Highclere (Downton Abbey) etc. We felt most welcome and are sad to leave.

Spent a long weekend in the white cottage- it was most fabulous.

Everything thought of, from local walking packs and reference books to tea coffee and fresh milk and water in the fridge!

We also went in for the breakfast included as I had read the reviews, and they were as promised- delicious, fresh and something for everyone.

David and Carole were welcoming and natural hosts. Lots of tips for eating out and the local walks.

The cottage itself is set back off a well worn track , we were delighted to see cows, pigs, horses and peacocks on our doorstep.

Over the weekend we walked in the forest, took a short drive to Lyndhurst and The amazing beeches of Christchurch.

It was soo relaxing, we will be returning

I initially booked in with David and Carol for a week, as I had recently moved to the area to start a new job. I hoped to move into something more permanent during that time, but ended up staying for 6 weeks! The service was second to none and I was really made to feel at home.

I stayed in the double room inside the cottage. It was so comfortable, and I was initially amazed by the multitude of animals (horses, sheep, pigs and cattle) that took advantage of the free accommodation provided outside, in the form of a small piece of grass across the road.

I certainly became friends with David and Carol during my time there, but that was not only due to the length of time I stayed. My family are returning to Wych Green for their second visit this coming weekend, only following their own raving reviews of the place. No doubt they will be back again at some stage in the future.

I would heartily recommend Wych Green for that 'escape to the country' feeling of staying within the heart of the New Forest. It's a beautiful place, yet still very accessible. You will most likely not feel at home, because the location is something else. Perfect for a weekend getaway or longer stay.

We have just arrived back from a couple of amazing days in the New Forest staying at the lovely Wych Green Cottage. Breakfasts were phenomenal with a full home cooked english including homemade hash browns and jams! The annex we stayed in was lovely and toasty in an idyllic garden surrounding and the owners were the perfect hosts with great local knowledge of walks and gave a friendly atmosphere to our stay! Definitely recommended!
