You cant please everyone all the time !


Having stayed at Candlesticks during the summer last year we have to say what a lovely place.

Food is excellent and the personal level of service is what is missing in other hotels.

Owners could not do enough to help.
Wonderful people and a lovely place to stay for great access to the new forest.

A very informal place to spend your time and would recommend candlesticks to anyone.

A lovely looking restaurant but what a disappointment! We were a family party of 12 and there were only 3 others in the restaurant and that should have told us something. Roast dinners came with a salad garnish! Banoffee pie was shop bought but really awful and tasted cheap. Waitresses lovely but nervous (?) and kept apologising for everything and I see why.

Food terrible.

Conservatory area dusty and full of mixed old furniture, not shabby chic just shabby. The draught beers were too warm and came from a beer box like you buy in a shop rather than from a proper keg.

Overall apalling.
