stayed 2 nights over the bank holiday and what a beautiful place & location. Where else could you be surrounded by ponies and donkeys just mooching around everywhere. The King Fisher suite is outstanding - how big is the bed & bath !!! Weller our Patterdale Terrier absolutely enjoyed himself amongst all the wildlife and even fell asleep in the bar area due to all the walking he did. A lovely walk round to the Red Shoot pub (just time for a swifty and then walk back to the High Corner for more) . A great starting point from which to visit all the surrounding places (Lyndhurst, Beaulie, Milford on Sea , Brockenhurst) All the staff are wonderful and we will definately return

Had a meal on way back from day out on coast. Took the recommendation from good pub guide as it was a "pick of the pubs" in Hampshire. Overall despite the great location it was pretty disappointing. The staff were friendly and professional and cannot be faulted. However, the place looks a bit tired and in need of a makeover. The most disappointing aspect was the food.

The menu is pretty basic but it is not difficult to do the pub classics well. Fish and chips is usually a good way to judge somewhere so I ordered that but fish was small and greasy in the batter. My wife ordered a vegetable moussaka that looked nothing like nor tasted like moussaka. Even the kids left their chips and beans which says a lot. It will always have a trade given where it is but plenty room for improvement on the culinary side of things

My partner and I were on holiday during August with family and decided to stop here for a drink. The pub seemed very busy during the day, staff friendly and helpful providing information about the area. Food was lovely good value too would recommend it.

We have stayed here a number of times with our labradors and love the location. Due to a problem with a previous booking the staff were really apologetic and really looked after this - the service has improved, the rooms are spotless and large and we had a really great time.
It is a Inn and the rooms are decorated really well - there are some stunning walks straight from the door - so if you enjoy the countryside and a pub atmosphere we would def recommend - we have booked again !

Room Tip: The Kingsisher is huge and has french doors opening onto the patio area.

We happened to stumble upon this Inn at 8pm at night whilst trying to find somewhere to stay rather last minute. We phoned before our arrival and found they had one room left which they happily held for us whilst we made our way to the Inn. The welcome was exceptionally friendly, and although the phone signal was poor due to the 'middle of nowhere' location, free wifi was available and was much appreciated.

We had been travelling for sometime, and I was desperate for a cup of Earl Grey - the owners kindly brought some Teabags to the room - a really nice touch i thought!

The room was beautiful, small but perfectly formed and the bathroom was amazing. Beautifully fitted with a HUGE bath! Lots of hot water, lovely bubble bath and fab tea and coffee facilities.

We had a great nights sleep and really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning.

The location is idyllic, the rooms are stylish and very well maintained and the chap who runs/owns the Inn is just lovely!!!! Cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: You must stay here!!

We went here for a special 60th birthday table of nine, including three children , the restaurant was not busy at all, we were one of the first tables to sit , so there is no excuse to wait 1 hour for our food , very very disappointed , the children were very hungry and very restless, although the food was very nice when we received it, still no excuse to be waiting an hour ( 30 min max i would wait unless being told of an issue ), we complained but was offered no explaination or any free dessert or coffee.

Very poor quality food and interior of pub is shabby and in need of upgrading. Gammon and leek pie looked and tasted like it had been sitting around all day and was covered with very unpleasant, dark brown, salty instant gravy. Lasagne was edible but very average. Burger was tasteless and ended up being fed to the dogs. Service was reasonably fast and staff were pleasant. A white pony circulates the grounds eating customer leftovers so at least someone appreciates the food.
