We have just returned from 2 nights in the High Corner Inn. The trip was a gift for my husband, but like the previous reviewer, I have been left incredibly disappointed. When we arrived at the pub there was not 1 member of staff around - we walked round the pub and ended sitting and waiting 10 minutes before someone appeared. We were not shown to our room - instead directed up a flight of stairs. On arriving in the room, the smell coming from it was over-powering. Exactly the same as the previous reviewer - like rotten cabbages or drains. When we complained to the member of staff he gave us a bottle of air freshner....
After a day of walking on Saturday we returned to our room for a bath - there was no hot water. The food during our stay was reasonable and the staff were very pleasant, but I have no idea how this place can be described as 'luxurious'. They are dog-friendly - which was the main reason I picked it - and the location is lovely, but the rooms just aren't up to scratch.
A hugely disappointing stay - I wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Ashby suite which was upstairs. It's a small room with sloping ceilings - not i...

Well we just returned from the New Forest, staying in the High Corner Inn. Sorry to say the only positives was the staff and the beauty of the place. We have stayed here before but boy oh boy has it gone down hill. It is such a shame as it is in a beautiful setting and such a beautiful looking Inn too. Our room was awful...It had a pungent stench as soon as you walked in....like rotten cabbages. The carpet was filthy, there were stains on the walls, gaps in the windows, a hole by the bed....But worse of all there was a dripping tap which had been dripping for a while as there was mildew and grime on the bath (wait til you see the photo ikkkk)...Luxury accommodation it said OMG I would not wish this room on anyone. I hate leaving poor reviews but this was awful. My Daughter had a sofa bed which was like laying on bare wires, so she slept in our hard bed...I woke up with the worse back ache ever. I enjoyed the New Forest but we spent more time out. We ate in The Trusty Servant in Minstead and The Oak Inn in Bank which were fantastic places for food. We ate once at the High Corner and the food was average to say the least. Really was unhappy, but Id rather just not stay here again than make any attempts on a refund. Such a shame as this place could do a roaring trade if it was given TLC.

Room Tip: Don't chose Tawny suite

For those already in the know, the High Corner Inn, is a dog owner's paradise. We only recently discovered this charming old Inn in the heart of the New Forest which positively embraces the dog and, of course, their owners. It is unusual as the owner of dogs to find a place which is so obviously welcoming to mans best friend right down to the bowl of doggy treats on the bar. We spent a night at this lovely Inn to celebrate my birthday. We experienced a very warm welcome on arrival, thank you Will, and ate a hearty lunch accompanied by a pint of extremely well kept Wadsworth Henry's ale. We were then shown to our room with en suite shower which was very clean and tidy and, considering dogs are allowed to bed down with you in your room, showed not a trace of any previous canine occupant. TV/DVD was provided should you want to hole up in your room on a rainy day rather than taking in the magnificent woodland and moorland which surrounds the High Corner. Dinner was eaten in the bar and was extremely good. The Wadsworth Corvus was excellent and we had some lovely wine.. We were very well taken care of throughout by attentive but un-intrusive staff. Breakfast the next morning was excellent with a wide choice of options. The sausages were to die for by the way. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and took two lovely long walks with our mutts who enthusiastically embraced the joy of investigating new smells in new surroundings. I would highly recommend the High Corner Inn to anyone who wants to enjoy time out in the New Forest with their dogs, horses, there are stables but you need to book well in advance I'm told, or simply to pass time together in a lovely and ancient part of the world. Book now you will love it.

Three days spent at this wonderful pub/hotel were made by;:
1. Location - set in the middle of the New Forest surrounded by... Forest, Ponies and Deer.
2. The friendly and helpful staff - thank you so much for your welcome.
3. The food. I needed a Gluten free diet and only gave the one day notice. The food was excellent!!
4. The room (Normandy) was very very well appointed, clean and had all we needed, particularly if you want a bath you can moor a boat in.

Room Tip: Set your Sat-Nav for Linwood. Drive through on roads that don't show and turn left at the sign...

Recently stayed here for one night and was a bit concerned when we found that the location was not on the road but down a long dusty track. However, at the end of the track what a great place we found. Staff very helpful and welcoming and the room was a total surprise. Set in an annex to the pub meant we were not disturbed by the drinkers and diners. All we could here was the wildlife of the forest. The room was spacious, clean and very well equipped with everything you needed for a nights stay. We ate at the pub in the evening and the food was plentiful and well presented and reasonably priced. Only downside was the lack of phone coverage but upon reflection that was probably good and added to the tranquillity of the place. Will certainly return most probably in the winter to enjoy the log fires and some of the many walks from the location.

My wife, myself and our little dog spent two wonderful nights at the High Corner Inn and were thrilled at the welcome we received, the hotel was extremely dog friendly and the accommodation and restaurant were excellent.

We stayed in the kingfisher suite which gave access to a patio area, which was perfect for the dog.

We shall definitely be going back again soon

We can't recommend the High Corner Inn enough
