I was raised in Ringwood but only return once every two or three years. This time I decided to take a tour of the Brewery even though I've been an Old Thumper and 49er fan for years. What a great experience it was. Our Guide was John and he made us feel welcome and at home straight away. The tour starts with the history of Ringwood's connection to brewing, which goes back over 1000 years. Of course you have to taste Ringwood's Best Bitter while listening. Your glass is quickly refilled if it becomes empty.
The tour then starts and we had a very interesting and informative account of the whole brewery. I have been on several brewery tours but this was the most detailed and we were allowed to see in the tanks and try all the ingredients.
Once this was complete we then went back to the bar to sample the 5 different beers that Ringwood make. Again this was free flowing and we even got to act as the barman and pour our own.
All in all, a great experience that I would recommend to anyone, as long as you like REAL ALE. Lager drinkers should not attend!
