“Surprise 60th birthday/new year break”
Reviewed 5 January 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We chose Forest Lodge and Forest cottage as we are a family of 14 and were surprising my husband for his 60th birthday and the properties had everything we required.
Swimming pool, hot tub, play area, tennis courts and of course the New Forest.
There were 4 generations of us too!
We had an amazing weekend and would return in a heartbeat

“Ideal base for exploring the area”

Great location for exploring the area, the new forest is outside the gate, Bournemouth's seaside is 30 minutes away to the south and Salisbury is 30 minutes away to the north.

The cottage offers everything you need and the swimming pool was ideal.

“Great location, great indoor pool!”
Reviewed 14 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We stayed at Forest Cottage for 4 nights with our two young boys (3 and 1.5 years old).
The boys loved the outside play area (and meeting the owners' friendly dogs!) and we all loved the indoor pool so much we went in every day.
Great location - just off the A31, so really easy to get to, but turn the other way out of the driveway and you might well meet a herd or two of wild New Forest ponies or spot a couple of wild deer. Only 15 minutes away from Moors Valley Country Park and the Liberty Raptor Centre - both well worth a visit.
The only difficultly we had with the property was the layout - the children's room had a (very exciting!) spiral staircase to it which meant there was no door between it and the lounge so we had to tiptoe around a bit in the evenings, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem with children who don't sleep as lightly as ours!
The owner was really helpful and said we were free to set up bedding / the travel cot anywhere we liked, and also provided a highchair within hours of us requesting it.

“When can we move in?”
Reviewed 13 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

Directions provided were concise and easy to follow, sat nav never left the glove compartment.

Warm and friendly welcome from the owners and their gorgeous, children friendly little dogs.

Very, comfortable, clean & cosy accommodation, tastefully decorated and well maintained. If you come and stay at the cottage make sure that you bag the succulent fabric covered sofa first as it is quite possibly the most relaxing and comfy sofa I have ever had the pleasure to collapse in to and had it not have been for my children wanting to explore and go swimming, I could have happily sat there for the entire stay.

The kitchen has every home from home comfort that you could ask for including a built in Neff fan assisted oven and microwave; a separate & generously sized four ring halogen hob with extractor fan, dishwasher, fridge with freezer space and all the table, oven and cookware that you will need.

The master bedroom is of a very decent size, there is a wealth of hanging/storage space with quality (wooden) coat hangers. The bed I believe is either king or super king size and is unbelievably comfortable probably due to its deep memory foam top mattress and quality cotton bed linen. The fully lined curtains and roller blinds keep the room lovely and dark…. if you are a heavy sleeper I would suggest that you bring an alarm clock otherwise you may sleep through ‘till checkout.

Shower room (next to master bedroom) was again clean, well decorated and maintained. The shower cubicle itself was of a generous size. Great little features such as the velux window and ceiling spot lights.

From the lounge area you access the lower floor via a wooden spiral staircase. Our children are aged 7 & 8 and had no problems at all with the stairs and required no direct support/supervision. For anyone staying whom may have younger children there is a secure stair gate at the top of the staircase for peace of mind.

The spacious room downstairs accommodates one double bed and a good sized bunk bed. There is also an ensuite bathroom with wc, hand basin and full sized bath with overhead shower. Next door to the bathroom is a utility room that has a sink, clothes airer, radiator and washing machine. Great for drying wet swimming costumes and cleaning off your muddy wellies. I loved this facility as it meant that I didn’t have to worry about taking wet and dirty clothes home with me.

The walk from our cottage to the heated indoor pool and hot tub took seconds as it is only a few steps away. The pool and hot tub is shared with one other accommodation, but having said that we spent hours and hours in both the hot tub and pool without having to share.

Comments from our two children:

I think the cottage is outstanding and there is nothing bad about it
i love the beautiful pool because the water sparkles and when it gets dark the steps light up a luminous colour! it is absolutely AMAZING!!
Lilia, aged 8

I think the house is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! and just incredible i really want to live here . the pool is incredible and fun and there ‘s lots of fun cool toys to play with and the pool is SOOOOOOO BIG!!! and i love it so much!

Reviewed 21 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

6 of us stayed for a long weekend. We had a fantastic time. The house and grounds were beautiful and Chris was extremely warm and welcoming.

Rooms are clean and comfortable. Indoor swimming pool and hot tub were very nice to use.

Lovely walks around the area and very comfortable for all of us.

Thanks.

“Lovely Cottage ”

Myself and my partner stayed in the cottage for 3 nights in September 2015.

The cottage supplied everything you could need to make your stay as relaxing as possible. Plenty of cutlery, cooking utensils etc.

We loved the swimming pool and hot tub! The play area looked great for children.

This short break provided us with the time to relax which we needed. Absolutely no complaints about the cottage. The owners were very friendly and always on hand to answer any questions.

I would recommend GoApe and going on the Segways through the forest. It was great.

Overall thank you for a lovely stay and we hope to return in the future!

“Cottage was clean and received friendly service.”

The cottage we stayed in was clean and very pleasant. But, the outside area is getting a bit 'tired'. The children's play area needs cleaning and tiding up. The football area had a lot of dog poo on it. The drone of the traffic on the main A road can be heard but we had been made aware of this in previous reviews.
We chose the cottage because it had a swimming pool and this did not disappoint our children.
The hosts are friendly and on hand should you need anything.
