Owner description: In the heart of the glorious New Forest, Beaulieu is one of the South's top visitor attractions. Here you will find the National Motor Museum, home to over 250 vehicles telling the history of motoring. You can also visit Palace House and Gardens, home of the Montagu family since 1538, the remains of Beaulieu Abbey and World of Top Gear where you can see some of the vehicles from Jeremey, James and Richard's most ambitious challenges. Ride on the high level Monorail or climb aboard the replica 1912 open top London bus for a fun way to see Beaulieu's sights.

“Not very up to date any more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

This is our second visit in about 30 years......and to be honest there has not been enormous improvements in that time. Yes it has changed, but it is not as big as I would have expected after all these years. Sure there are some really good old cars, but not as many "specials" from slightly more recent years - those that the older motorist of today would actually remember. There is a little fun ride through the ages of motoring - but not suitable for anyone that has any problems walking as it is a step-on/step-off ride and it actually moves quite fast. But if you can get on it it is a bit of fun - and you get a chance to sit down! But all that said - it was a good visit. It also has the advantage of the "Top Gear" exhibition next door, do not miss that. Very very interesting and with cars used in the TV series with the matching episode showing next to it. And it is worth queuing up for the "Studio" episode.
The restaurant next to the museum do have a monopoly as it is the only place to eat/drink. But it is not brilliant and it is very overpriced. So if it is a nice day - take a picnic!
We will probably visit again in the coming years - and maybe it will feel better then.

“Great to wander”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

This is a huge part of the Motor museum. Big park and kitchen gardens to take in all the various smells. The house is OK, but being disabled I did not get the full view here. And I do appreciate they cannot fit a lift in this old building.
The abbey was the best part with a film to view in the old refectory. Nice to sit down for a while. We took the bus to the abbey and then walked around and back.
We went on a brilliantly sunny day - but it probably would not be of any value on a rainy day. So pick when you visit if you can as there is not really much to see indoors.

“Pricey!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

Beaulieu house and grounds and the Motor Museum are all good in their own right but I do feel it would be better to charge per attraction. £21.00 per person is a little steep I feel and as you can be there for upwards of four hours you will probably need refreshments and there you incur more cost. So in short, a family day out (parents and two teens) can come to a tidy sum!
Yes, the house is beautiful, yes, the grounds are equally beautiful and the Motor Museum is so-so but I still feel it's overpriced and on that basis we will not be returning.
