“family stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

We stayed overnight here recently on our way to peppa pig world. The room was big enough for 2 adults, one childs bed and one cot. the restaurant was getting renevated but dinner and breakfast was served i nthe attached pub (which served lovely beer). The pool is very small but for families with small children it is fine. The location was lovely as well, slap right bang in the middle of nowhere (apart from railway station)

Excellent place for a short break - all the staff were lovely and the food at the Drift Inn was good. Very welcoming atmosphere and we even joined in the pub quiz. We had a four poster crown room which was a great size for four of us and a dog - the room was quiet and windows opened on to the garden so we could keep the room at the right temperature - no horrible air conditioning. Fantastic location - lovely walks from the door and the motor museum just down the road - tickets for this included in our deal and it was a great day out - cars, interesting house, abbey and gardens. Hotel pool on the small side but adequate for a splash around and an extra for us - not the reason we chose the hotel. Will definitely be returning later in the year.

Room Tip: Crown Room in the main hotel - lovely.

we booked this lovely hotel for a weekend break away with family, we had such a nice time staying here, it was so quiet and lovely just to chilax for a change as we usually have hectic weekends away, really nice staff especially victoria ( the trainee manageress) she was so helpful and nothing was to much bother for her, she gave us food to take back to our rooms as well because we were so full at the time, so we needed time for the food we had just eaten to go down before attempting to eat our desserts :) also another member of staff emma, she was our waitress in the pub next door last night, she too was also very nice & polite, always ready if we needed anything special. the food in the pub was so nice, we enjoyed it very much and they gave such nice big portions as well, sometimes to big i couldn't eat all of mine, but we did compliment the chefs there, yarik & doug.. my cheesecake was delish i loved it, we also had food brought to our room, including a ploughmans meal, that too was lovely, i loved the pate.
but as i say we loved it all..
our rooms were nice, clean & quiet, apart from real squeeky floor boards! :)
it was lovely sitting by the log fires they have and sitting on big comfy sofas just relaxing, chatting & laughing....perfect!
we didn't realise they had a pool there, otherwise we would have brought swimsuits but maybe if we go there again we'll make sure we bring them next time!
so if you need a quiet little place to relax, this is the place for sure......enjoy!!!!

Room Tip: the room we had was in the centre of the hotel, which looked out onto a roof garden sort of, but bei...

Having been given two nights at the hotel as a present for a special occasion, we booked four months for dinner for both nights on a special deal, in what was supposed to be an award winning restaurant. When we arrived we found that the restaurant was closed for refurbishment and that we would be having our meals in the pub next door (under the same owners). To get to our meals, we had to go out of the hotel in the pouring rain and wind. We were very disappointed but, gave the pub a try on the first night, only to continue to be disappointed. Although the surroundings were 'quaint', the food was not even up to good pub grub standards. The menu was also limited and unexciting. The staff are mainly young, try hard and are pleasant, but lack finesse, which is obviously down to training. Perhaps the usual restaurant chef and staff were not on duty during the refurbishment. We certainly couldn't understand how the award could have been achieved if this was the norm. The breakfast on the following morning was also below the standard we would have expected. My husband is a Fellow of the IHM so does know something about hospitality standards.
That morning my husband contacted the central reservations for the hotel group, who couldn't have been more helpful and along with the hotel itself being nice, were their saving grace. They had thought that we had been contacted to let us know that the restaurant was closed and as an apology presented us with a bottle of wine when we returned to the hotel, where the on duty receptionist, a gentleman, was very considerate.
The hotel itself was very pleasant, with two open fires, nicely furnished and decorated. It has a small indoor swimming pool which we didn't use. We upgraded our room and it was pleasant, spacious, clean and pleasant. The mattress was soft, which suited me, but seemed to go down a little too much at the top, with the feeling that we were sleeping at a slight incline. It could be that this would be resolved by turning the mattress round to even out use. The public toilets near the lounge area were also clean. There is a lift, suitable for wheelchair users.
It is not located in Beaulieu and a car would be necessary. It is nicely located for walks in the New Forest area and has a play area and picnic benches outside, which would be pleasant on a summer day.
I would recommend the Hotel for the accommodation, but, unless the standards improve, I couldn't yet recommend it for food and so regretfully, cannot give a fourth star at this time.

Room Tip: In the winter, I would think that the better rooms would be cosier in the house. The garden rooms c...

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay at the Beaulieu Hotel. I am sorry you were not informed of the restaurant refurbishment and am pleased to read that the reservations team were so helpful when you contacted them. Please be assured that this is not our usual level of service and I will ensure your comments are discussed with the general manager to investigate further. I do hope you will consider visiting us again in the near future.

Booked this a short notice as a weekend away. Some mixed reviews on trip advisor but generally good. On arrival receptionist OK. Our first room was in the annex which at this time of year was a little unwelcoming and fusty. Did not really want to stay but receptionist then helpful and was able to move us into the main hotel on second floor. Nice room and very comfortable. Dinner in the evening in the adjoining pub was also OK, but nothing special. English breakfast really was very nice and beautifully cooked. Would return but would be careful about room selection.

Stayed at The Beaulieu Hotel between Christmas and New Year. Staff were all very nice and helpful. Food was very good with a good select. Bar was lovely with an open fire. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Would happily stay there again. Good value for a family of four.

we have been 3 times now and love it. Third year running we have not had wi-fi in our room so had to keep going to the lobby to get on line. The management must be aware of this as 3 years running i have informed them. As the restaurant is being decorated we had our meals in the drift inn which was fine but it felt less special, however my dog could come to breakfast and dinner this time which was lovely. Bed is gorgeous, room was come to that, no complaints only in the hotel bar, Guinness on tap was sold out, stella on tap, sold out, boddingtons on tap old out just bottled beers, maybe as the restaurant was closed they did not bother with the stock in their bar. Lovely stay feel relaxed and blessed.
