We met friends here for lunch last Sunday who recommended it from a previous visit. We walked in to be greeted by a roaring fire and rustic interior. The staff were very welcoming and our food when it came had been freshly cooked and really was home made. The place is dog friendly and our dog was given a treat and there were water bowls available, she then settled down in front of the roaring fire and fell asleep! We will definitely go back and would recommend it to all.

A great place for locals and visitors, for good food and drink, great atmosphere, and when we have been on a Friday night, there is usually live music.

Took ages to find a dog friendly pub with accommodation, so expectations were high!

Proper old pub, no "Harvester" type food here! Lovely menu, really genuinely obliging staff, great ales... All sounds too good to be true doesn't it?

Our ancient GSD and baby Border Collie were made more than welcome, they got a welcome treat as soon as they arrived and were allowed to join us in the dining room. Lots of locals in the bar (always a good sign).

Accommodation was lovely, in a separate stable block, with its own enclosed patio. Lovely walks on the door step. The local hunt set off from the pub car park on our first morning. They couldn't have engineered that for us surely???

Well done Ged, Simon and Kai, keep up the good work. This place is an absolute diamond find for dog owners.

Being quite "picky" about our food, it's rather special to consider this place as "highly recommended". We would go back anytime.

Several really nice touches, obviously thoroughly thought through.. Lovely to find such a welcoming place, in such a lovely location.

Was there a downside to the visit? ......... erm............. No, just lovely, thank you :)

I visited this pub a few weeks ago in a group of 6 adults and 3 young children plus one dog. My opinion is - A lovely relaxing pub, good atmosphere with nice clientele, but not pretentious. We all had the Sunday roast which was very nice. It is in a lovely location, we saw a few donkeys just up the road from the car park. The landlord is very welcoming to dogs - he has a jar of doggie biscuit's on the bar which you are free to help yourself to - for the dog of course! There is a good size beer garden which my three children enjoyed playing in. The weather was on our side and it was lovely to relax in the sun. I would definitely go back in the winter months to experience the open fires and ambience.
