We couldn't have been made more welcome. The Turfcutters is a lovely traditional old pub, beautifully located in the New Forest near Brockenhurst. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, followed by scrambled egg with smoked salmon. What a way to set up for a new day. They are pet friendly too, so we will back soon with our dog Alfie!. Thanks guys, your kind hospitality was much appreciated.

Two of us stayed at The Turfcutters when playing golf at Freshwater Bay on Isle of Wight (an experience to recommend in itself!). The Turfcutters is a warm and welcoming traditional pub ideally located in the heart of the forest.

The accommodation was spacious and clean and the breakfast was first class. We shall definitely be returning.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are spacious with good ensuite facilities. Ground floor with excellent access for d...

This is a great pub to end up in after a hike in the forest. They really don't mind muddy boots, kids and dogs. The food is plentiful and tasty but 'rustic'. The treacle pud was the best I've ever had. We went one evening in the school summer holidays and it was full of children, so very child-friendly. The beers are good but the dining chairs are very uncomfy so we only stayed a couple of hours. Having said that, I'd go again. We found the staff helpful and the service very good.

Room Tip: We didn't stay, just a pub visit, but the road is a country lane so rooms not likely to suffer f...

The turtcutters is in a prime location set in the new forest. We went there for Sunday dinner but found the meal was a bit disappointing . It lacked flavour, the beef was chewy but the veg was ok. The bar had some great ales which was good for an ale lover.

A nice pub, that has some accommodation attached, but saying that I think the pub itself relies a lot on the local trade as certainly when we visited the bar area was crowded with locals which is not always a bad thing. The food is good, but is nothing special, a good selection of beers. Staff are friendly

Certain food served at certain times so don't rely in "food served all day" sign. Not very helpful staff, very much for regulars, I live 15 minutes drive away but would rather go somewhere else in future. Very little if the food is home made, ribs were boil in a bag, fish cakes bought in, puddings all bought in and best of all bowls of sachets of ketchup etc sat out in the pub garden all day on a sunny day yuk.
Others have said it is good but I'm not so sure I think it's just average.
The last point the toilet facilities were revolting, unclean, unkept. If they can't get a public area like the toilets right how clean is the kitchen etc.
won't be rushing back unless everywhere else is busy
