Over the years we have visited The Greyhound many times before. We ordered a sharing platter each, thinking that if it is big enough to share it should satisfy one person as a main course. We were appalled when a plate (not platter) appeared with a teaspoon of humous, aubergine puree and artichoke with one pitta bread sliced (photo attached). We asked if a mistake had been made as it looked more like a starter for one not a platter for 2 at £10. The manager said it was correct and that there were expensive ingredients (chickpeas, aubergine and pitta????) included. He then proceeded to take the plates away (did not offer an alternative) & flung our money back at us.
We have visited this pub many times before and have introduced plenty of people here but clearly they have become too arrogant (they are only a pub) and cannot cope with bank holiday crowds. We went round the corner to The Valiant Trooper where we were delighted to receive friendly service and excellent food well priced.
Shame. Will never return here and do not recommend.

Me and my boyfriend came here last week for our Anniversary and we couldn't of been happier. We didn't book but it was no trouble at all for them to seat us straight away, despite them being quite busy. The service was perfect all night- tentative but not intrusive. The place is warm and cosy yet spacious. The wine was lovely and well priced. We had the camembert to start which was so tasty- infused with garlic and with plenty of fresh bread and chutney. For main I had the noisettes of lamb and he had the ribeye steak- both were cooked to perfection. Brilliant cuts of meat with lovely accompaniments. We shared the special desert afterwards which was also lovely. I have come here a few times now with my family as well as just the two of us and have never had anything other than a wonderful evening. The prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality of food you are getting. I would 100% recommend this beautiful country pub :D

A delightful setting in the pretty village of Aldbury only enhances this lovely old pub. With old-world bars at the front and a big modern conservatory to the rear, there is plenty of seating on tasteful, comfortable leather chairs. The menu is varied and interesting and the quality excellent. Choose from confit of duck leg with spicy noodles soup, calamari, salt & pepper king prawns or pate for starters or go for a platter to share with friends. Main courses include sausages, sea bass or home made lasagne. Tim and his team will give you a friendly welcome, but say if you are in a hurry.

Beautiful looking pub set in a beautiful village. Went for a christmas meal on the 15th December and there (food-wise) the beauty ended. There were seven of us and we payed £26.75 per head for the food (not including drinks). What you get for this is: a three course effort done on the cheap. Iceland style starter; main course was Bernard Matthew processed turkey slices topped off with Auntie Bessies' roast potatoes. The pudding did not diverge from the format of the starter and the main meal. Portions were small and I had the delight of a very split creme brulee. To top off the experience we were offered six truffles, when we pointed that we needed one more truffle with our coffee we were offered a Celebration chocolate. Straight from the tin like everything else no doubt. Gee whiz, how do they manage to turn a profit. If the quality of this meal is any indication of what is served during the rest of the year - just drive by!!! Shame on you!
