“Comfortable and laid back”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

Just had 2 nights here for going to a party. We know the area very well - in the heart of The Chilterns. Lovely old cottage, superbly renovated, roomy and comfortable. Our bedroom was large, with good facilities and a light and bright smart en-suite. Excellent breakfast choice and even a sausage sandwich wrapped in foil ready to go when I failed to get up for breakfast on the Sunday. Lovely owners - welcoming and friendly. Would have given 5 stars but the main road one side is quite noisy and well-lit. Maybe a screen of trees would help? Definitely recommend this lovely b&b.

Stayed at Folly Farm whilst working on a major construction project for 20 months.
Jude is a fabulous host, and really made me feel welcome from the first night. The house is beautiful and in the summer sitting on the patio is extremely relaxing.
The rooms are decorated and furnished in keeping with the style of the house and feel very homely.
There are 2 dogs at the farm, that Jude keeps away from guests unless you are comfortable with having dogs around. I have to say they are 2 of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet, and I am already missing my little welcoming committee of Madison and Ember (and Jude of course) on a Monday evening.
The breakfasts are fabulous, Jude is a superb cook and you will never leave in the morning feeling hungry.
In the area there are several very good restaurants and bars that provide nice atmospheres and good food. A taxi in to Tring is around £8 - £10.
If you are in the area and need somewhere to stay for 1 night, a few nights or long haul like myself, this should not be missed.

Room Tip: The large room with the roll top bath en-suite is fabulous

Myself and my Partner Yvonne stayed here for 1 night whilst cycling along the ridgeway.

After riding 30+ miles we arrived at this quaint b&b looking forward to a comfortable and relaxing stay. We were not disappointed!!!! From the initial greeting to the final goodbye our host Jude could not have been more friendly, helpful and accomodating.

The room (with a roll top bath - huge) has perfect. It was very comfortable, extremely clean and had all the little extra's you would expect to make an overnight stay as enjoyable as possible.

Jude has extremely helpful - recommending a local restaurant ,booking us taxi's, setting up the iron and ironing board and making sure we had everything possible we needed. After a long (well deserved bath) we had to force ourselves to leave to go for dinner....... we returned a few hours later and had a great night sleep in a wonderful bed.

Breakfast the next day was superb. The choice was fantastic and we left the table after chatting with Jude for well over an hour completely satisfied and well fuelled for a day's biking.

I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the area and we will definitely be back in the near future to expereince this wonderful hideaway once again.

Well Done to Jude & Charlie for making our stay so memorable.

Thanks, Rob & Yvonne

Room Tip: The room with the large roll top bath is superb. The bath is worth the money itself.

We stayed at Folly Farm, in a double room with private (sumptuous!) bathroom. We run a B&B ourselves (Dowfold House), so cast a critical eye over others. In the case of Folly Farm, there was, however, little to criticise and much to praise. We wanted to check-in early, to change for a wedding, and that was fine. Then (of course) we were late, but that was fine, too. We rolled up and Jude welcomed us warmly, showed us all we needed to see and offered to arrange a taxi (which, in fact we weren't able to use). Our room was comfortable, characterful and beautifully presented, on a nicely coordinated tulip theme. The only lack was hanging space (and, I'd have liked an alarm clock, but from experience, many people don't). when we eventually rolled back, there was a bottle of champagne and two glasses waiting! Sadly, not for us, but for the honeymoon couple also staying. Shucks! 8-). The room booklet was one of the best I've seen; we've stolen a few ideas from it! Our hosts, the Glenisters, our hosts, clearly know the area well and are well-equipped to help you get the most out of your stay. The breakfast the next morning was just great - good quality and nicely served. Jude was happy to talk but without intruding at all, which we know is a difficult line to read, but she's got it off perfectly. We'd stay there again, and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: The tulip room was very comfortable, and the bathroom very good. There is another room, slightly la...

I stayed at Folly Farm last week for 3 nights with a colleague as we were attending a 3 day conference at Pendley Manor which is very close. Many of the attendees had booked into Pendley Manor and they all wished they had been at Folly Farm when we told them about it!
Even though we had booked single rooms we were both given lovely double rooms and mine had a very large ensuite bathroom which was spotless. Lisa's was just along the corridor and as we were the only guests this was not a problem. Both rooms were spacious and extremely well decorated and they were very comfortable with a kettle provided with all the bits you need for tea/coffee etc.
Jude and Charlie, the owners, were very welcoming and this is one of the nicest bed and breakfasts I have stayed in. Breakfast was plentiful with local produce used. One morning we came down to the smell of freshly baked bread which tasted fantastic.
Jude put our wine in her fridge to chill and after we had eaten out locally, on Jude's recommendations and all excellent, Jude offered us a wine bucket filled with ice and nice big wine glasses to drink out of. We were able to use the lounge area to chill out after the conference and Jude and Charlie were both very hospitable without being intrusive.
I think this is one of those hidden gems and I will definitely be back as there was lots of the local area that we did not see as it was a work trip.
