“Gorgeous Food!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

It comes at a premium but the food here is absolutely worth it! I had a three course meal, and it certainly surpassed my expectations!
I'd recommend the mutton main course and the lavender Creme brulee :)

We only picked it because we had to arrange accommodation at short notice and ended up in a B&B down the road. The host recommended this place to save us driving again, but I'm so glad we took her up on it!

We go to eat at The Riverside quite often and for special occasions too and it never disappoints. Richard, the owner, is an excellent front of house and welcoming. The staff are lovely - good service and the food is consistently good. Always a good selection for vegetarians too, and even a vegan menu was produced for us once which was very well received. Lovely ambience and setting by the river.

A fabulous dinner menu last weekend! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly and venison dishes. Beautifully cooked food and neatly presented. We visited the Riverside after seeing it recommended by other guests in the visitors book at our rented cottage. We have done the same! Many thanks for the hospitality and wonderful food.

We ate here on a busy Saturday and the place was full, luckily we had booked, we had our dog with us as did several, other diners, and he was made welcome. the staff were very friendly the standard of food was great and the little extra touches such as toffee popcorn, candied nuts etc with my ice cream was lovely! We aim to revisit at some point during our holiday in this area.

This is not the best pub food around but still very good. The location of this pub / restaurant is ideal sitting long side the river. We visited for a Sunday lunch with friends on a very sunny Sunday afternoon. The 3 course Sunday lunch with coffee and fudge was good value at £19.95 per person. Service was sometimes good sometimes a little 'off' due to young inexperienced staff. Plenty of people enjoying a drink by the riverside. Well worth a visit.

Excellent food well presented and served by friendly staff. First visit for the four of us. I had twice-baked cauliflower and local goats cheese soufflé, mustard sauce, and goats cheese beignet- wonderful, very rich and full of flavour, served with home baked bread rolls. Three salmon with parsley and almond gremolata, and one cider braised belly of Shropshire pork, their own black pudding, orchard apple puree, and cider sauce followed. Everyone thought 'delicious'. Very good puds too! All reasonably priced! Will definitely make the effort to drive the 45 mins to return here! Weather was glorious for those who sat outside on the bank of the river.

This was our first visit to The Riverside & we're glad we reserved a table as the place was really busy on a sunny day. To call it "pub food" does it a disservice...it was excellent, the best we've ever tasted in a pub. The welcome was genuinely friendly and the service was perfect. The food also lived up to those high standards. My wife had slow cooked beef with new potatoes and kale, whilst I savoured the pork belly with new potatoes, kale, apple puree..in a cider gravy. They were both "melt-in-the-mouth" delicious. Everything was full of flavour, not bland like many pub meals. We just about had enough room for superb puddings....homemade bread & butter pudding with custard, and wonderful apple, elderberry & ginger sorbet. I love sorbet and this was also streets ahead of anything I have tasted previously. All washed down with refreshing Wye Valley HPA !The bill came to £42(including drinks) and was worth every penny. There's a lovely seating area down by the banks of the river too...what more could you ask for !
