Stayed for a Saturday night in the Hayloft which has a large sitting area and direct access to the beer garden which we had to ourselves for most of the time. We had an excellent meal the quality of the food and service was faultless. The staff and owner were friendly and efficient. The breakfast was also excellent with local produce well cooked and very tasty. This stay was a birthday treat for my wife at the end of a week away and it made the day special.

This was our first stay in Herefordshire and we were surprised and pleased by the peace and tranqulity of the county even on a bank holiday/half term! We stayed in the stable suite at The Riverside Inn which offered us a lounge, bedroom and bathroom, with plenty of space to feel comfortable for our 2 nights. Very convenient for the riverside garden and only a few steps away from the main restaurant building and our car parked beside. The only drawbacks to the riverside valley location is the lack of mobile signal so no calls or txts while you are there! Digital tv reception was also a bit wobbly at times! There is however wireless internet and Richard will give you the access codes on request so emailing is really your only link to work, friends and family while on site!

The Inn is more of a restaurant than a pub with all inside space taken over by dining tables. If you want to drink you stand at the bar or sit outside.
We had two great meals from the wide ranging menu and were delighted with the presentation and qualiy of what was served. The style was more gastro pub than traditional Inn so if you expect very large portions you may be disappointed! The wine list was great and the house wine very acceptable both in price and quality. Breakfast was first class in the cosy breakfast room and your choice cooked to order. Fabulous creamy scrambled eggs with smoked salmon!

Richard was the perfect host and gave invaluable advice on local attractions and routes! Overall a great find!

We stayed for a three night walking weekend. This hotel suited very well having a great location on the banks of the river Lugg. We stayed in the Hayloft which had masses of room if a bit old fashioned but everything worked and was comfortable. Lovely to be able to sit outside the room on our own patch of grass in the sunshine.

The breakfasts were very good with all the usual choices. The evening meals didn't all quite hit the spot however, portions were sometimes a bit small for the prices which I thought were a tad expensive for some dishes for a pub/hotel like this even one which is clearly a destination establishment. The dishes were however for the main part interesting and there is clearly a chef being allowed to do his creative stuff which is excellent. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful and the whole atmosphere and service is friendly and unpretentious if sometimes a bit slow.

Always slightly unnerving returning to a hotel or restaurant that impressed previously. I shouldn’t have worried – the Riverside Inn is by no means perfect but it would be hard to leave the place at the end of your stay without a smile on your face. The dog-friendliness is outstanding and the accommodation for guests with dogs is still the best we’ve come across.

The food was, again, great – the breakfast on our final morning was, I think, the best cooked breakfast I have ever had. Each component ingredient adding to the overall joy of the feast – particularly liked the cherry tomatoes (presumably from their greenhouse on the hill behind the hotel) fried on the vine. And oh, the black pudding....

OK, our one gripe was about the service in the evening – there was nothing very wrong with this, just a bit amateurish. Still friendly as owt but a bit sluggish and one or two of the orders/timings a bit out. But the quality and provenance of the food more than makes up for it.

Stayed for one night while walking the Mortimer Way. The waiting / bar staff were friendly and helpful and the room clean and comfortable. It was good to see the source of the breakfast ingredients printed on the menu. Would definitely stay again, especially as dogs are welcome.
