“Walk, row or swim to one of the best pubs in the county!”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

Fantastic pub that welcomes ramblers just to use their facilities. Very friendly. Doesn't take itself too serious at all. Good beers and good food. Dogs are welcome. You can only get here if you walk, swim across the Thames or get a boat. Great all day drinking pub, with cheese and biscuits on the bar whilst you wait to be served.

“Good basic pub by the river”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

Accessible only on foot (or by boat), over the bridge from Bourne End or a walk along the river bank from Cookham. This is a welcoming, efficient, effective, pub that gives itself no airs but provides good basic pub food and drink, in a realy friendly environment. Great river views, dog and children friendly (great playground for children, water and chews for dogs etc). A really nice place to go go for a pint and a bit on a summer's day or when walking the dogs or children - or as a couple.

“Different (in a good way)”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

We have been to The Bounty several times as there and back it makes a good day trip in the boat from Bray. Very popular with the children because of the climbing apparatus in the garden (not sure it would pass a health and safety assessment, but that is part of its charm!). The bounty is in a great location, accessible by boat, and with a decent river frontage for mooring (usually managed to find space) the interior of the small bar/restaurant is full of "stuff", flags on the ceiling, pictures on the walls, a large lion sculpture, several dogs and some regulars. The food is basic, but tasty, the sausage baguette is favoured by my son and its long enough for one and a half sausage (what do they do with the other half sausage?) served on a old-style metal plate. The burgers are also OK, but all in all you don't go to the Bounty for the food, you go for the relaxed atmosphere, low prices, good beer and cider and the great riverside location. Hope it never changes (too much).

“Perfect place for refreshment after a walk”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

Absolutely love the Bounty, have been coming here for years after walks along the river with various dogs or to meet friends for a drink on a summers evening. Always welcoming, great service and a fabulous location. Food is average pub grub, don't expect a gourmet meal but its tasty, good portions and exactly what is advertised. Just what is needed after a long walk. Plus they have Rebellion and scrumpy on tap. Perfect
