We stayed here for 1 night. The room was fairly clean and overlooked the back. This is where the smoking area is, so beware if you are a non smoker. The food was good value we tried lunch and breakfast. The car parking is limited to 1 car so not ideal. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Stayed: May 2014, travelled as a couple

We stayed here while in Bromyard for a night out at a local restaurant. Our room (no. 3) was clean, reasonable size and decorated to a good standard for this type of accommodation, all the staff are friendly and the breakfast was very good quality. Overall great value for £60 for two people.

Upon arrival the immediate issue we did face was getting into the tiny car park. The Crown and Sceptre fronts the road at a busy T-junction for the town centre so getting in and out of the tight entrance is difficult. The car park holds two cars at a push, when we arrived one car was already there, fortunately we found out these guests weren't planning to drive anywhere or leave before us the following day.

With the car parking sorted we were welcomed and checked in by a very friendly and helpful young man in the bar. When booking we requested Room 3 from the description on the website. This room overlooks the rear so we didn't get any of the traffic noise others have commented about. It does also overlook the function room, there was a party on the night we stayed but we didn't hear any noise from there either.

The room itself was clean, tidy and a decent size. There was a section of the ceiling which was bare plasterboard and looked to have been recently replaced, other than this the room was decorated well. This room has a desk, flat screen TV, bedside cabinets and a good size wardrobe. The bathroom is quite large for a B&B of this type and again was clean and well decorated, the only issue with the bathroom is there's nowhere to hang towels, which is puzzling given the overall standard of the room.

Breakfast was served in the restaurant area of the pub. When checking in we were asked what time we wanted breakfast so they could let the chef know, who turned out to be a friendly young lady who also served us. The menu is basically juice, cereals, toast, cooked breakfast of your choice, tea or coffee. The cooked breakfast is made to order and the quality was excellent.

In conclusion, we would definitely stay here again and I'd have no hesitation in recommending the Crown and Sceptre to anyone looking for somewhere to stay overnight in the area.

Another tip, if you stay here and need a taxi, we recommend Ray's Runaround on 07891 225865. Ray is a wonderful older gentlemen who provided us with a reliable, friendly and reasonably priced service. He's local to Bromyard so he knows the area well.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 3, it's at the back of the building so you won't get any noise from the road. It's a good size and has a desk (unlike other rooms as commented in previous reviews).

We booked this pub / B&B on the internet from NZ and was really happy with the result. We had a great warm welcome from the land lady/publican after travelling from NZ with an overnight in Paris. The room was I believe the larger one with extra space was clean and comfortable, the bed fine and ensuite more than adequate. I agree with other comments regarding the noise, however was not intolerable, my wife and I both slept well. The meals we had were of great quality and price, all served very hot [unusual these days] and with a smile, we had a full English breakfast both days we were here, but the choice was there for alternatives, all served with cereal, juice and lots of toast. I have no hesitation in recommending this hostelry for a good honest room and food at affordable prices. Well Done

Room Tip: Take a back room away from the road if possible. The front ones are not too bad.

Reasonably priced, but pretty basic space to stay. Clean room, comfortable bed, but no writing desk. Extremely limited parking - just space for one car! It's on a main road in the centre of the town, the windows are not double glazed, and the curtains aren't very heavy, so not recommended if you are a light sleeper. Pub grub in the evening; the town centre has virtually nothing else to offer for dinner. Decent breakfast, friendly staff. The pub itself was very quiet (stayed mid week), so no problem from noise downstairs.

Room Tip: Try to get a rear-facing room to avoid traffic noise.

Had lunch here recently with my family, both my self and my sister said we had the best cottage pie here that we had ever tasted, so much so I can't wait to go back, service was excellent by a very attentive young man, nothing was too much trouble for him, pleasant atmosphere, very clean
