“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

I took my mother for afternoon tea on a sunny Saturday afternoon. There was plenty of choice at this very special afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. The food was classic and the staff were wonderful. To top it off a box of goodies to take home.

I always try not to stay too long in a particular place or return too often so as not to begin to see flaws or get the staff become contemptuous, however I have made return trips to grove and I have had better experiences each time it's like they are happy to see me again I'll rather stay here and commute to the city center. Golf here is fantastic

Room Tip: Can't really tell the differences

Our kids actually consider this place to have been part of the best years of their life. The hotel is like that , they feel at home and comfortable. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They remember us and we remember them. It's so much better than three hours or more in the car for an unknown quantity. We have always gone whenever we can, and will keep going back whenever we can. Great food great facilities beautiful grounds. It's all there, why go any further afield.

The Grove advertise as in Sarratt it is not, nor is it in Chandlers Cross
The Grove is a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting on the edge of Watford Town. 10 - 15 minutes straight road into Town. M25 and M1 nearby. Lovely Cassiobury Park. The Glass House restaurant is self service but the choices are incredible. Something for everyone. Brilliant Sunday lunch. Expensive but most enjoyable. Not easy to get bookings often fully booked.

We have recently returned from a couple of nights at the Grove. This was a lovely stay and the staff must be congratulated - nothing was too much trouble and they were very efficient, kind and helpful. We booked an Executive Suite which was beautiful and in the Mansion. We traveled with our 9 year old, so having the two rooms was helpful. The room was beautifully appointed and really comfortable, albeit a bit on the warm side. It was quiet and we were very comfortable as a family. We ate in the Stables one evening and found it to be really pleasant and they were very accommodating when we asked them to alter something on the menu for our son. Breakfast in the Glasshouse was lovely with a great choice of food. Again, the staff were very good. One or two tiny niggles. One evening we were unable to eat in the Stables as it had been booked out by a golfing fraternity which then appeared to have a knock on effect with the room service - 50 minutes for a cup of tea and a bowl of ice cream. The childrens pool is nice, but to be honest, it only suits very young children and babies. Anyone older than about 6 struggle as it is so small, three strokes and they are at the other side. It would be fantastic if they could lower the age limit for the family swim in the spa pool to maybe 9 or so to accommodate slightly older children. That aside, a great weekend, we really enjoyed it.

I stayed for a week and everything was up to expectations.
The choice and quality of food and snacks was excellent, the rooms very comfortable, clean and quiet.

The Gold course was one of the best I've played, my only complaint is it was an expensive walk.

The grounds were classic English Country Garden and beautiful to explore.

I was there on Business but would happily come back with the family or for a romantic retreat.

We had a quite one night break and loved every minute. The spa was great, grounds beautiful and our meals at all three restaurants were delicious. My husband has a serious shellfish allergy, and the staff at Collette's could not have been more accommodating.

Room Tip: If there is an event on while we are staying (i.e. wedding) choose a room nearest the spa. There has...
