paid about 360 for a room with a great view to the golf course but unfortunately the load in and load out area for the band.

The corridors look like an American school with what looks like locker doors all along.

rooms are what you would expect for a place this price but no free bottle of water. The food at our banquet was average, didnt offer us any coffee just as we were ignored at the drinks reception. my partner had to chase for a drink. We had a very average breakfast in the stables and they dished up eggs benedict with what appeared to be folded over shiny processed ham. The staff are very pleasant. Probably the biggest surprise rip off I have had in a hotel for years

My husband and I stayed here in October 2013 for a two night weekend break without the children. We occupied an executive suite in the main house which was outstanding. The room was very luxurious and comfortable. The view from our room looked over the golf course and the gardens.

On our first night where we ate in The Glass House where the selection and quality of the food was amazing. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of what food was on offer and which drinks would compliment our meal. We also ate breakfast in The Glass House which was very satisfactory.

We also ate a meal at The Stables but my preference would be The Glass House.

We spent a morning in The Spa which is a short walk away from the main hotel building. The spa is very nice and massage treatment very good.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and very well kept, you would never believe that you were actually in Watford. This is a fantastic hotel for a weekend break. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is very expensive however the service is impeccable and the Champagne cocktails are fabulous!

We recently stayed at The Grove on a three night Easter break. The hotel is lovely, very clean, great spa facilities and helpful staff. Just a couple of things that let the hotel down;

1. The choice of food through the day was limited. Very few lunch options in the spa cafe or hotel lounge. We sampled two of the salads which at £15 we expected to be a lot nicer. The food was very average.

2. Although we booked two weeks in advance we were unable to get booked in the fine dining restaurant. We avoided the Glasshouse buffet because of the sheer amount of children staying in the hotel. We ate at the stables for two evenings which was lovely but the drinks were very pricey. £4.50 for a diet coke! We expect to pay elevated prices in a 5 star hotel for nice surroundings but we felt the prices were excessive.

3. Avoid school holidays if you don't have children. The hotel was full of children and although children are not allowed in the spa (rightly so) the restaurants were very busy and noisy.

4. The hotel do not provide water in your room - it is £3.50 for a small bottle of water from the minibar. We have stayed in many spa hotels across the UK and abroad and mineral water is usually provided free of charge in the room as standard. At £300 per night you would expect to have complementary water in the room.

Overall it was an enjoyable stay but the excessive prices and lack of lunch food options at the spa really let the hotel down.

We are a family of 4 (2 children ages 5 & 7) and we booked a room at The Grove for 2 nights as a quick Easter weekend getaway. We had a very nice time. I would say they go out of their way to have activities for the children and all the staff seemed very eager to keep the little ones busy and happy (which was key!) and my husband and I enjoyed a long run on the grounds while kids were being tended to. The hotel is massive and doesn't know exactly what it wants to be and probably suffers a bit from being too big and not able to take care of the little details as well as other hotels that charge as much for a night's stay- that being said, if you have children and want to go someplace that caters to them, this is a good option.

I booked this for my wife's birthday for a couple of nights first with the children and second just us 2.

The hotel is stunning and lives up to every expectation, the room was beautiful and had out reaching views over the gorgeous countryside.

The spa is excellent and has a wonderful pool, very calming and lots of bed around it.

There is also a hydrotherapy pool which is very relaxing.

The food in the hotel is excellent and there is something for everyone. We had the buffet the first evening as we were with the children and the second night we had the fine dine which was spectacular.

Overall a great experience very relaxing, in the summer there is a beach and I imagine more geared up for children, it's one of the top 3 hotels in the uk in my opinion.

Will be going back shortly for sure...

Booked the Glasshouse for a 60th and a party of 10. Whilst the food was up to a sufficient standard everything else could be much better. Compared to a US or a Mexico 5 star this would get only 3 stars. I know the Glasshouse is a buffet but when the wine is not in chillers on or near your table you don't want to keep trying to get attention for a refill. Also i'm sure some of our wine was served to an adjacent table. Having cleared your plate you are not automatically given a new set of cutlery for your next visit to the buffet ( it is eat/visit as much as you like). To many tables for a top notch experience.
