Owner description: Mill Green Museum and Mill, in the tiny village of Mill Green between Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, is a little gem with loads to offer for a fun day out. You can explore the fascinating 300 year old water mill, restored to full working order. Visit the local history museum in the old mill house, bring a picnic or have a tasty cream tea on summer Sunday afternoons, from Easter to September. We are open all year round, Tuesday-Sunday plus bank holidays. We warmly welcome families and groups. There's always something new to see as we change exhibitions regularly. Every school holiday there's lots of things for children to do. We also have a lively events and activities programme.

“Interesting and well kept water mill”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Small and original fully working water mill. We had a in depth chat with the miller who
showed us what was what and told us the ages of various parts of the mill. He was very
informative and we were sorry to hear that he was about to leave for pastures new.
Hopefully his replacement will have the same amount of experience. He explained how the flour
was milled and of course we bought a bag to try. Well worth a visit although as other reviewers have said it won't take long to make the full tour so a good idea to plan it as part of a day out.
Very well kept and excellent value.

“Gorgeous mill and gardens”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Really interesting to see how a water mill works. Staff are friendly and helpful and you can get a cream tea in the garden with scones made from the flour from the mill. Pretty setting outside and child-friendly Victorian room sets inside. Plan to go somewhere else as well though - it's only small. Hatfield House is close by.

A small but interesting and friendly place to visit. The food is also good, especially the bread for some reason!

“Step back in time”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

This is a great museum built around a working water mill. On some days you can even grind your own flour. The sheer energy of the large wheels when they get going is amazing. Beautifully laid out and friendly, helpful staff and volunteers on hand. Great place for both young and old. You can get refreshments, too.
