Stayed at the hotel on an all inclusive offer. It was clean comfortable and quiet. The room was well equipped and the staff were excellent. The restaurant food was surprisingly good.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but we were grateful that we were not there on Saturday when there was a wedding reception. It is doubtful that the wedding could be separated successfully from the other hotel guests.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the back of the hotel as the front overlooks the A1M. Avoid Wedding reception days.

First time at this hotel on a bargain rate, lots of parking right by reception, friendly staff, really quiet although the hotel was pretty full and on a main road. Everywhere was spotless and well maintained. The bar had a good atmosphere and again the staff were friendly and seemed to want to be there (!)
Rooms well equipped, and bathroom worked well. the bed was comfortable with crisp linen.
It's a little out of the town but that's the only criticism I have, I'll definitely stay again.

Room Tip: I honestly think any room would be good if mine was anything to go by.

The hotel is good items of location, I've stayed here numerous times and I think it's been taken over by new management and personally I preferred it before. There is never anyone at the bar and I've often waited 20 mins for signs of anyone. Also the staff sometimes don't seem to know what they are doing, management have conversations with staff that should be don't out of guests ears. The food is good and the restaurant staff very attentive. The reception staff are also good however can be inconsistent with giving information / wifi codes.

Good for commuting and near to train stations etc

Dear Amanda

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your recent stay with us.
I was so disappointed to read that certain aspects of your stay were less than satisfactory, and I have since had a meeting with my food and beverage team to ensure sitautions you encountered do not re-occur.
I am however so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your restaurant experience.
I do hope we can welcome back to the hotel in the future.

I recently took my 87 years old Mum on a road trip, taking in Bletchley Park, St Albans, Warner Brothers Studio Tour (The Making of Harry Potter) and Berkhamstead Castle. LateRooms offered me the Mercure Hatfield Oak at a very reasonable price and I'm delighted that I chose this hotel.
It was central for all our trips, clean and has very friendly, welcoming staff.
The room was a long walk from reception - however with a low level hotel, this if often the case. The bed had been separated in to twins, as I had requested and there were ample towels and toiletries for us both. Clean bedding and bathroom are essentials for me and this room hit the mark.
All the staff we encountered were helpful and pleasant to deal with. The restaurant is excellent and the bar area offers a great alternative.
We certainly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to recommend.

Room Tip: If you have any mobility issues, there are 34 rooms on the ground floor - ask for one close to recep...

What can we say - a perfect stay! Upgraded executive room, large spacious and comfortable. Excellent breakfast - the best range we've ever seen for a three star hotel and we are experienced travellers! 4 choices of juice + water, yoghurts, individual bowls of fresh fruit salad, fresh fruit, 6-7 cereals, croissants, danish pastries, cheeses, cooked meats, toast and full english breakfast (buffet style). Fellow trip advisors - if you don't like buffet breakfasts, don't stay at hotels that serve buffet breakfasts. For us this style works really well. Staff very friendly, a little naive and gauche around the edges but this is more than made up for by their hard work and willingness to help. A special mention to Dan (Food and Beverages Manager) who knows exactly what he is doing. The piece de resistance of this hotel, however, is the evening food. This chef seriously knows what he is doing. Quality food, superbly cooked - some of the best food we have ever eaten, comparable to some of the AA Rosette restaurants we have eaten in. The whole deal costing £94 each for two nights B&B, lunch each day (sandwiches and chips or soup), free drinks from 7pm-11pm and a superb 2-course evening meal each evening, as well, made this an outstanding deal. This hotel is definitely on our list to revisit

I stayed with a friend here last weekend and was really pleased with this hotel. I had called to inform them that we would be a bit early and would really appreciate the room being ready as we had a wedding to get to. I was very happy when we arrived that the room was ready, very clean and the staff were super friendly. I had a very comfortable nights stay and would definitely recommend this hotel as it is in a good location and does the job perfectly!

Room Tip: Our room at the back of the hotel was quiet. Ask for a fan if room is too hot.
