The reception and the service staff deserve kudos; They make sure you matter - whether you are arriving or checking out. There are only 20 rooms and with business parks around, the rooms get booked out quickly.. It is just over 5 pounds away from the train station; and within easy reach of motorway (A1/ M25)

There is no room service, but the front reception, the restaurant and other staff in the leisure departments are very helpful and welcoming. Guests can use the gym/ leisure facilities.

The room decor is a bit dated, and could do with a re-fit; But for the business traveler visiting the region, it ticks most boxes.

Room Tip: Rooms are on the same

What's good?
- Modern rooms
- Excellent leisure facilities (full free access for hotel guests)
- Quiet
- Friendly Staff
- Free wi-fi

What wasn't so good?
- Cold bedrooms
- "Small" double bed; only appeared to be a 3/4 length one
- Bathroom could have done with a deep clean

Hotel only had 20 rooms (situated directly above the gym). If arriving after 10pm, you have to call a mobile number to arrange entry,

Part of David Lloyd's Hangar Gym Complex this hotel offers a number of air-conditioned rooms that are large, with restricted internet access and inclusive access to the Gym, sauna's and restaurant. Offer free parking.

The gym is excellent. The building is somewhat needing a coat of paint and renovation. Whilst I was there there was a leak that wrecked the shop and entrance.

The restaurant had dirty tables, glasses and cutlery with basic microwaved food. Not appetizing but then there is nothing else on this industrial park.

Very odd set up - appears to be a hotel tacked onto David Lloyd leisure centre. Reception staff were OK, but clearly the hotel was secondary to their main job. Pay for room in advance, had to order breakfast before evening meal! Ate in the bar area - big mistake - meals brought in and left on table. One of our group noticed the meals had arrived - staff did not tell us. They did not know difference between lamb & beef burgers.
Hotel room was large and spartan - its a converted aircraft hangar as the name implies. The plumbing was very, very noisy in the middle of the night - I am a deep sleeper and even I woke up - if my wife had been with me, she would have gone mad!
The local area felt a bit rough - would not recommend walking around at night.
On the positive side?.......it appeared to have good leisure facility if you like swimming & tennis.

Some of my colleagues have been staying here occasionally as we have a client nearby and I recently had to join them for a day so I booked a room at The Hangar so that I was in the same hotel as my colleagues. When I booked (over the phone) I was told that there was only one room left, but it was an Executive room and therefoere would be a slightly higher rate (£99 instead of the standard £85). So expecting a higher standard I was more than a little taken aback when I got into the room. The windows were filthy, no doors on the front of the wardrobe, the toilet seat was falling off... and that was before I'd actually used the room. It got better: the toilet flush started off a noise (the cistern refill I presume) so loud that it could be heard at the other end of the corridor (I heard that there is a tacit agreement amongst regular guests not to use thr toilets after midnight so that everybody is not kept awake all night by the horrendous racket). I later discovered that the security chain on the door was not secure at all as it didn't connect to anything else, and then to top it all off when I used the wash basin in the bathroom to have a shave in the morning, I found out that the basin's overflow was working brilliantly - it just overflowed directly on to the bathroom floor!

Is there anything positive to say? Well... not much really; the bed was very large and comfortable, the front desk staff were friendly (but it seems they are much more occupied wit heht gym than the hotel) and that was about it. Unless you count the fact that you get access to the (extensive) gym facilities - but you get that at least one of the other, much, much better local hotels.

There is also no proper restaurant for this hotel - the gym has a bar area where you can buy a meal but the food is merely OK - well enough cooked but not too exciting - nothing spectacular. And as it is an area that really belongs to the fitness centre, the bar/dining area is populated with all the human traffic from the tennis, squash, swimming pool, gym etc.etc, and is also over-populated with large screen TVs that are constantly pumping out sports channels... hardly conducive to relaxed eating, Oh, and breakfast is charged extra - which puts it up into the same price bracket as the other local hotel.

Excellent and very very different.
Built in the old airfield contro tower.
Rooms nicely fitted, clean, and big.
The only problem was, there are no phones in the room, so either you walk to reception or call on your cell phone.
Great coffee lounge restaurant in the health club with a heated pool and spa, which was great to be able to access.
Lively during the day, peaceful at night.
A short walk to shops and supermarkets
