“CALZONE”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

Nice friendly Italian Restaurant on the canal. The staff were pleasant and attentive. Enjoyed a good fresh Bruschetta followed by a decent sized helping of Lasagne. With a bottle of wine and coffee came to £36 for 2 of us, will go back.

“Great food, lovely atmosphere.”
Reviewed 23 March 2014 via mobile

Always receive a warm welcome at Calzone. The staff are very attentive, nothing is too much trouble. The food is good wholesome Italian and very generous portions. Would highly recommend their Vegetable paella.....absolutely lovely. So much choice for vegetarians, something for all tastes. Very reasonably priced. Highly rate Calzone, if you haven't been yet.....why not?

“Very disappointing food.”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

I came here with my husband on a Friday night. The place is clean with a nice atmosphere and the service was friendly, although our waiter did take us to a large table in the window and told us that he would move us to a smaller one if it got busy, which seemed odd. It didn't get busy and we weren't moved, luckily. Our pizzas were flavourless and very poor quality. The base was clearly not homemade - biscuity, crumbly and perfectly round, like a frozen supermarket pizza base. The chicken pieces on my husband's pizza were flavourless grey cubes that tasted like tofu or polystyrene. There was a decent amount of veg on my vegetarian pizza, but the whole thing lacked flavour. We have had much, much better pizzas for the price and the whole experience was reminiscent of a pizza restaurant stuck in the early 90s. I'm really surprised by the great reviews on here!

“Excellent gluten free pizza”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

My family, friends & I have been fans of the service & food at Calzone in Apsley Lock for many years.

A big part of the appeal for me is the gluten free pizzas available there. As a coeliac, finding restaurants that cater for GF diners can be tricky.

I have tried the GF pizzas offered by rivals Dominoes & Pizza Express, but neither are as tasty as those from Calzone.

Take-out delivery service also reliable.

“Excellent value!”
Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

Had read previous reviews so visited after a visit to the Harry Potter Studio Tour. It was busy for a Thursday but we were given a warm Italian welcome! The service was excellent and the food was great value. The paella was enjoyed, as was the pizza. The spaghetti & meatballs very tasty but was expecting homemade meatballs. Would definitely visit again if in the area.
