We experienced fantastic service following the breakdown of the heating and hot water. Mr Patel offered us food, drinks and sent a duvet and heater to our room. He also provided us with another room which had power restored to have a shower the next day. When we got to the room the staff had even switched on the heating on, can not wait to go back

I stayed at this hotel for four nights, its very clean and comfortable with all the usual facilities.
Breakfast was a bit limited, often running out of cooked items in the hot self service section. Its best to have a later breakfast as early on all the tradesmen staying there eat early.
Staff do not speak English well although they were helpful
Would I stay here again – quite possible

Our group of three couples spent 3 nights at the hotel on a dinner, bed & breakfast basis from Monday 30th December 2013 to Thursday 2nd January 014.
On arrival we had a mx up on the "disabled" room for one couple.Tthe room was at the far end of a corridor and the longest distance from the main building p badly designed by someone obviously not disabled. But with a cheerful smile,. the receptionist sorted it out immediately.
It was that attitude with all the staff. Nothing was a problem, and everything was done with a cheery smile and a 'no problem'.
he NYE ev in the Garden Room was great. Although listed as a buffet, the starters were served. The main courses were served as table by table we were invited up to the 'buffet'. later the staff said that there was plenty more and just go up and take some more. he desserts were served as was coffee or tea.It was plain to see that all the staff pulled their weight and happily.
Wine and drinks from the 'bar' were inexpensive, not the usual charge them through the nose some places we have been to do.
Our stay was very pleasant despite the dreadful weather, enhanced by the constantly smiling faces around you.
he only criticism was the heating system in the bedrooms and the hot water for baths and showers. Sometimes sadly lacking. ut once again when we said our rooms were slightly chilly, heaters were brought immediately without complaint and still with a smile and an apology.
However we were told the hotel was going to have a new boiler system installed soon.
As I have said, we had a great time and the staff deserve a bonus from the management for their brilliant service.

Room Tip: The best rooms are in the block next to reception

To stay at this hotel you have to have a car, if you do you can experience a lot of places within comfortable reach from the hotel. If not, you are stranded. The rooms and the surrounding area is great, and the staff is very friendly and will help you with anything within their power. The hotel has a bar in the reception area, and if you want a change, there is another bar across the street. Did not try the food except for the breakfast, and it was good.

We have just returned from a night here. It was chosen for its location, as we were visiting the Harry potter studio tour the next day. By car this hotel is situated a very convenient 10 mins drive away. We arrived mid afternoon on a Sunday, it was starting to get dark and was a grotty day. So we were pleased to get into the room, which is available to check into from 2pm. We had pre-booked via the best western website and opted for a superior double room. Some of the rooms are away from the main hotel block in stand alone blocks, similar to some hotels I have stayed at in Spain. We were very impressed with the size of the room, the bed and the modern fresh decor. The only thing we noticed was it was a little cold. However, upon checking with reception I was informed the heating was on a timer and due on at 4pm. So, we had a cup of tea and sure enough, the heat came on as promised. It was very cosy and pleasant indeed. The only point I would make here is that if check in is from 2pm it would make a better impression if the room was warm on arrival, but this wasn't a major issue. In relation to the rest of the essentials, the bathroom was clean, tidy and supplied with plenty of hot water, a good shower and bath as well as good quality toiletries. The bed was massive and we found it very comfortable. Large tv with 70+ free view channels.

The hotel itself is I believe, a former flour mill and as such is situated around a river, with a mill pond and weir etc. we didn't really have opportunity to fully appreciate this due to the weather, however in the summer I think this would be quite perfect.

At 6.30pm we headed across to the bar area with thoughts of having a meal. We hadn't yet decided if we would go go into the restaurant or, eat in the bar as both were available. The bar menu was reasonable and okay for a quick fix. However, we thought we might have a nice meal in the restaurant. This wasn't quite open yet so we asked at reception if there was a menu available to view. We were told no, the restaurant was CLOSED due to a private function, but bar menu was still available. We were a little disappointed and felt this closure should have been mentioned when booking or at check in. However, we ordered at the bar and the food arrived within about 20 mins. I had a chicken and chorizo burger and my wife had a pasta dish. The food was ok for bar food, but there wasn't much atmosphere. I then returned to the bar at 7.30pm to order deserts to be told that the chef had gone home. I was surprised by this, however given the time of year and how quiet the hotel was I do understand. So, instead we retreated to our room and enjoyed a comfortable stay. Breakfast was of a reasonable quality, good choice of continental and full English cooked to order.

I appreciate this was a Sunday stay between Christmas and new year, and this may be why we encountered the issues with the restaurant. This is the only reason I have marked it down. We would stay here again based on everything else.

Room Tip: Superior room is worth the small upgrade.

We stayed here because it was nearby our location and we were too knackered to drive anymore. The "double" bed was actually two single beds of differing heights. My wife and I couldn't sleep and were awake from 2.30am, listening to incessant giggling through the intolerably thin walls. In the morning there was no hot water for several minutes after we switched on the tap, and the water pressure couldn't suffice for a fully cleansing shower. The clerk asked, formulaically, how was our stay - but she clearly wasn't interested in our answer and seemed not even to be listening.
