“Great but too hot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

Firstly I have to say all the staff were outstanding in this hotel. The food was ideal and the prices hard to beat.

However there is a major problem in the design of the hotel in that the rooms are unbelievably warm. The temperature outside was around 20 degrees, this resulted in the rooms being so hot you struggled to sleep properly. The staff did everything in their power to help with fans in corridors and rooms. You can only open the windows by an inch or two, which makes sense with kids, but does restrict any fresh air coming in to the room.

Location was perfect for our trip to Harry Potter studios and an abundance of parking was available. There's a Subway, Dominos and Toby restaurant right next door.

Well done to all the staff, but I would be reluctant to recommend in the summer until the heat issue is resolved.

Stayed here for one night on the way to Gatwick arrived just before midnight and was greeted by a lovely lady who having checked us in offered to keep the bar open so we could have a few sherbets before bed.

It’s one of the better Travelodge’s I’ve stayed in so had no complaints regarding room which was clean and even had two pillows each. Instead of a bar of soap there was a small bottle of shower gel. Even the towels where fluffy

Parking wasn’t a problem although the car park was rammed – didn’t have breakfast, thought I’d try the Toby restaurant underneath the hotel, thinking it might be on a par with a Wetherspoons (it's not) Awful.... food had been plated up since opening so that meant that everything was congealed and tasteless, no orange juice unless you paid for it and the coffee was obviously watered down.
Having said that it did seem popular with the locals!!

Very new and modern Travelodge. Large car park so no need to worry about getting a parking space. Extremely friendly staff and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The only problem is that the building was done with no air conditioning and so be warned that the bedrooms get very warm. Fans have been installed in the bedrooms to help with this but above all I will happily stay here again. Main point is that all of the staff are polite and friendly which is lovely to see.

Stayed last night and all I can say is it was unbearably hot inside
There was a fan in the room but it made no difference at all.
It certainly needs air conditioning.
It wasn't even a hot day outside which was just as well as I dread to think of the temperature inside if it was!
I would recommend staying at a different hotel if possible.

I travelled in from abroad to see family nearby, so location was great, and check in when I arrived was quick and easy, there is bar and restaurant by reception and Toby downstairs. They were showing the world cup in the evening, and the food smelled really nice, Stephen was great, he was helping everyone out. In the morning there was a buffet breakfast, full English, but good start for the day, Tom and Kelly were fantastic, and got me a map to Harry Potter Tour (a present for my nieces), would recommend to anyone needing to stay in Hemel Hempstead, for a budget price, it wasn't lacking in service, 5 stars to the team.
