Just back from a night there with my daughter, we had separate rooms. Both were really delightful with their own comfortable sitting room, fantastic views from the windows over a lovely and completely silent wooded valley. The rooms were clean and comfortable with good ensuites. The host was friendly and the breakfast delightful. Will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: From the look of it, all the rooms would be of a similar standard.

We are pleased that this visitor was delighted with much of what we offer, but disappointed that her experience was not 100%.
Our 400 year old solid stone walls are up to 5 feet thick, which makes reception somewhat difficult in some parts of the house.
The stone steps may have engendered some apprehension, but they have been traversed by many ladies of a certain age in the 29 years we have been here, all without mishap.
The suite this lady occupied is requested in particular by some of our regular visitors, so we find her reservations over the bed surprising.
The double insulated water tank is some 20 feet away through two walls, and so could only affect a very light sleeper. No-one has ever mentioned it before.
However, we are pleased that overall she saw much that was positive, and next time she visits us we will ensure that her special needs are sympathetically and fully catered for.

Although Lower Bache House is off the main road and two miles from the village, don’t let that put you off.
We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome from mine host, suitable armed with a flask of fresh milk, and settled into our suite for a much needed cup of tea.
At breakfast, we were presented with a menu with a truly wide ranging choice. Two types of smoked fish, a whole range of egg dishes, and bacon and sausages to die for. If you are adventurous, try the Welsh delicacy  laver bread!
It is so convenient for so many wonderful places of interest. The stunning town of Ludlow, an absolute must, as are Hampton Court [yes there are two!] Berrington Hall, Croft and Goodrich castles, and the essential Hereford Cathedral with its Mappa Mundi and chained library.
Because of our commitments, we did not dine there, but our fellow guests were most enthusiastic.
We left with an all round glow of contentment.
We will be booking up again for a peaceful weekend stay

This was our first visit to Herefordshire, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable short breaks ever.

The countryside is so beautiful, lots of small fields and hedges, a contrast to the prairies of Eastern England.

We were also lucky to find this charming b&b. A large old farmhouse on the side of a small valley, where the songs of birds were the only sounds.

Our suite had a lovely small separate sitting room with an eclectic selection of books in a large bookcase.

We opted to have dinner there on our second night, and wished we had made it the first, as we should have had it on both!

Lovely food sourced from local producers. When you go, make sure you get the address of the farmer who supplies their bacon and sausages. They can’t be bettered.

A really lovely experience. We will certainly go again.

We had such a lovely stay at Lower Bache House, a real treat for our weary London feet!
We were greeted with a warm welcome and a lovely cup of tea - much needed after a stressful drive from london!
The room was gorgeous, really twee and a perfect hideaway from real life! We wandered around Ludlow during our stay and whiled away the hours reading and relaxing in this lovely little cottage.
The breakfast was great and we really appreciated the free range produce.
We will definitely be back and will recommend to friends who want a little respite from the normal hustle and bustle of city living!
Thanks
Holly and Luke x

All nice on the phone, replaced with rude and bad attitude when we arrived. No hot water in room until we asked for it in the morning, and then only a dribble and tepid. No mention of price increase when informed owner on the phone that we were two people not one. No heating when we had breakfast in the main room.

When the gentleman rang two days before Christmas requiring a single room for Boxing night, recognising that it was near impossible for him to find somewhere else, we happily agreed to accommodate him, although it had not been our intention to take such a booking. He subsequently rang to tell us that it would be two people and they would be arriving at 7pm. which was fine.
Just before arrival time he rang and said it would now be 10pm. no explanation or apology.
they arrived rather inconveniently at 10.30, again no apology, and it was agreed at their request that breakfast would be at 9am. At 8am., as we were in the process of preparing the dining room they appeared and demanded breakfast immediately. Again, no explanation or apology. The gentleman then affected to believe that a double room was the same rate as a single, despite the tariff [and normal practice] being quite clearly described on the website.
I gave exact details of how to operate the power shower. When they had departed we found he had managed to switch the power off.
Throughout, we encountered nothing but arrogance, lack of consideration and rudeness. Our disappointment at this experience may well have been reflected in our faces.

we recently stayed here again after visiting a few years ago. so relaxing, a great get away from it all location and what I love about it is it is unique. The building is stunning and the room is unique, not like every other hotel or B&B where you can forget what country\area you are in because they all look the same.
food was as wonderful as I remember and what I really love is that all the meat is free range which is important to me. The sausages are the best I have ever had.
great location near to lots of black and white building villages and an easy drive to Ludlow which is the foody capital of the country except for perhaps London

Room Tip: steps to some of the rooms so if mobility is a problem mention this when you book

I booked this just three days before visiting and was pleased to receive a phone call to confirm our requirements, and some information in the post. Lower Bache House is down a narrow lane with few passing places, but is only about three miles from Leominster. There are a few other buildings nearby on either side. It overlooks a small valley, and the dining area catches the early morning sun. Our bedroom, accessed via an external stone staircase, was very rustic with exposed beams and low ceiling in parts. As well as an en-suite shower room it had a sitting area next to the main part of the bedroom, but overall was no more than average size. A few of the fittings were not quite right, such as the window stays on which the holes were not aligned with the knobs, and sink taps that were hard to turn off completely. Personally I found the number of ornaments, pictures and potted plants to be excessive.
Breakfast was quite good. They also provide an evening meal on request, which we chose to have on two of the three nights we stayed. You state your dietary preferences and are served a two or three course set meal in line with this. Both times we had it this was excellent - highly recommended if you are happy to eat whatever you are served, rather than choosing from a menu.

Room Tip: Some rooms are accessed via an external entrance up a flight of rough stairs.
