We were booked into the Lion by the owner of our B&B as we hadn't had a chance to organise dinner ourselves, and we were very pleased with her choice of restaurant! The menu was varied and interesting with a good selection of game and a lot of local produce - I went for the Guinea fowl and my boyfriend had the rabbit - both were delicious. The wine list was good quality and VERY reasonably priced (we chose an excellent Chablis) plus the desserts were mouth-watering too with a yummy selection of homemade ice cream - the salted caramel was particularly impressive! The service was friendly and efficient and the dining room has a lovely warm atmosphere, the only person who wasn't very sociable was Rooney the resident ginger cat who studiously ignored us for the whole evening! We come from Cheltenham and a similar standard of food would have been double the price here so we came away very pleased indeed - don't hesitate to pay the Lion a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Late for lunch, and only a quick stop possible, but this was a good find.

Service was very efficient and friendly.

Prices were all reasonable.

Portion size was just right for lunch, and a good selection of dishes were available.

Would eat there again and would recommend it to you if passing.

Made a family visit on a Wednesday night, and what a treat! Fresh local produce imaginatively prepared, but NOT fancy food with no substance. Every dish was generous, well cooked and full of subtle flavour.

The chef alters his menu on a weekly basis to reflect his purchases and the choices of freshly made ice-cream were sublime. If it's on I suggest you try the Marmalade Ice Cream. Superb!

The menu is not large and reflects the fact that all the food is cooked to order. No vast menu of 'boil in the bag' rubbish like many other supposed 'top flight' restaurants.

I cannot recommend The Lion highly enough!
