Our family descended on the hotel on Friday 24th August. We were there to celebrate a family wedding the following day. Our arrivals were from 4pm onwards, until some time after 10pm. The management copied amazingly well, even when plied with requests from some 30+ guests for an evening meal - their response was to take orders and then swing into action, producing delicious meals for all. Nothing was too much trouble, even when a slight accident required medical attention... the reception staff rose to the occasion, providing help and a bandage! The hotel pool was tested and enjoyed by our party, as well as the grounds.
We enjoyed the delicious full English breakfasts, and the rooms were homely and comfortable, with flat screen televisions and tea/ coffee making facilities provided. All in all, the entire weekend was brilliant - some of us kept very late hours, especially the younger elements! The staff were amazing, always smiling and patient. Their caring attitude is a refreshing change to some establishments, and all credit to them.
We would certainly recommend John and his staff and the Hotel and its facilities without hesitation .

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long time. We stayed from a Friday to a Monday morning and the staff were polite and hard working displaying an excellent service. We were attending a family wedding and the reception was also being held in the same hotel. There were about thirty of us all arriving at the same time. After checking in everyone decided to eat and the food was served quickly, it was excellent. The next day at the wedding reception, all the staff showed how professional and well trained they were. Everyong was served politely and the food was hot, tasty and very well presented. The whole event was made more pleasant by the excellent service from the owner and his staff. As the wedding wore on into the early hours of the morning, the staff, food and service remained excellent. We would certainly recommend this hotel for any event, especially a wedding or just a lovely week end or week away.
Congratulations to this hotel, absolutely remarkable.

Stayed with friends on a golfing break. Warm friendly greeting from John Richardson, who had pre-booked our golf prior to our arrival. Rooms were good sized traditional with well equipped modern bathroom. The bar is busy with locals as well as visitors, but friendly staff assured nobody had to wait long for a drink. Restaurant offered a good choice of home cooked meals. ( Try the Beef Wellington !!!)

A thoroughly enjoyable 3 night stay, our group have already made enquiries to return next year, and I look forward to returning

Stayed with a group of friends from Weston super Mare......we were very impressed with every aspect of this hotel. Good size car park, very comfortable room, excellent food, friendly staff, not over-priced. The staff also had an excellent knowledge of local area and suggestions of where to go for day out. We would certainly recommend this hotel.....how nice now-a-days to find somewhere that is real value for money...well done the Burton Hotel.

My family and I have been staying at the Burton over many years and have always enjoyed coming back as their improvements over the years have been fantastic .I stayed recently to celebrate my birthday with 40 of my friends. I chose the Burton because I knew I could rely on John Richardson and his staff and because they were the only hotel who would undertake Beef Wellington for such a large party! I can only thank the whole team for their superb organisation. The meal was truly excellent and it made my special birthday totally memorable. We look forward to another stay in the near future

I didn't recognise this hotel from the bad reviews. Having stayed in many 5* places I found the Burton friendly and more than good value for the £95 per room rate we payed. The staff are extremely helpful, the evening meal was very nice and had a modern feel. The attached spa is a nice bonus, as is the free wifi. What do people want for the room rate?! I've payed double for alot worse.

We are a 3 Star family run hotel celebrating 25 years under my ownership. We can accommodate 30 guests per night and 40 plus reviews seems small over a six year period. We thank you for your comments and I hope we shall continue to welcome back guests to the Burton for many years to come.

We stayed at The Burton whilst visiting the Hay festival. Our room was a decent size with a good bathroom, plenty of storage space and a big flat screen TV with a full range of Freeview channels.

The desk receptionist was very helpful, printing out a map to help us find our way to Hay. Car parking was easy in the large park at the rear of the hotel.

Where the hotel needs to get itself organised is with breakfast. We took one look at the gloomy, poorly lit dining room and the clingflim covered offerings to decide to grab a bite elsewhere.
