“Heart of Kington”

I think it's fair to describe the Burton as quirky for its mix of old and new but that only adds to the appeal. The new is the super spa which with warm pool, jacuzzi and sauna made for great relaxation after a days golf. There's a gym too for the more athletically inclined. The hotel appeared the centre of local social activity so making the decision to eat straight-forward which was a good choice, a nice portion of very good grub in the welcoming bar went down very nicely. My room was in the older part of the hotel, characterised by uneven floors and the odd creaking board but generally well appointed, roomy, clean and comfortable.

Will definitely stay at the Burton again. Well, it is two minutes from the wonderful Kington Golf Club...

Everybody worked hard to make our one night stay enjoyable. The age of the building does result in certain restrictions, it was very difficult to watch the TV in bed, but this is quibbling. We were comfortable, and enjoyed the food in the dining room which was functional rather than elegant. (The modernisation of the decor has resulted in a rather hybrid effect). Breakfast was superb. The bar was good with excellent local beers.
We did not use the fitness suite but it was obviously popular and attracted a l large local clientele.
A lot of effort goes into this place and those responsible deserve to do well.

Stayed here mid- August on kgb deal and was delighted with character of the hotel, along with excellent food and facilities. We were allowed to take our dog into the rooms and bar, which was a feature that attracted us to the hotel. We had never been to the area before which was full of history and utterly charming. The staff made us very welcome and the pool is excellent. The restaiurant choice was very good, but also an extensive menu is on offer in the bar, would not hesitate to recommend and would definitely consider returning.

Room very spacious and clean. Had one meal in the hotel it was lovely, the steak was perfect.

Spa was lovely and the lady who did the treatments was brilliant and very reasonable.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel, purchased on a KGB deal. What a lovely time we had. The hotel itself is full of old character, squeaky uneven floors and high ceilings. Our room was very large and spacious, lovely and clean with comfortable beds. We were shown all the facilities on arrival and made to feel really welcome. The staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the meal was beautifully cooked. The second night we ate in the bar and again thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Breakfast each morning was freshly cooked and we could have as much tea and coffee as we wanted. The bar prices were reasonable and my husband really enjoyed the real ale on offer. An added bonus was the free use of the spa and its facilities which we used on arrival and the two following days. There was also free Wi-Fi for guests. All in all we had a lovely time and will certainly return.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel and found it lovely a quiet

The Burton Hotel is a real country hotel, large rooms with high ceilings, uneven floors, full of character with the added bonus of a great spa and power showers. We stayed for two nights and had a really relaxing time, The breakfasts were substantial and very well cooked. Plenty of tea, coffee, toast, nothing was too much trouble. Met at reception by Jack who showed us the spa facilities, nice large pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The pool is large enough to swim short lengths, towels provided, lots of loungers. The changing rooms are well equipped with hot showers, hair dryers, changing cubicles and bags to put your wet swimwear in.

We ate in the restaurant on one evening and the food was plentiful and the duck and sauce delicious. Not cooked pink but roasted with crispy skin, the portion size was so large I could not finish it all. The bar prices were extremely reasonable and the hotel seemed to be used by a lot of local people enjoying a drink so had a busy atmosphere. The only slight downside is the decor is a little dated, particularly the carpets, but that was really a small point, and I felt the upgraded shower and flat screen tv together with spotless bed linen made up for this. Lovely part of the country with good walks and Hereford within easy reach. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a short break at a very reasonable price.
