“Superb place to stay”
Reviewed 24 June 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We booked Ranfurley House for a New Years family celebration - 9 of us ages 20- 55 years. The house is amazing, very quirky with lots of interesting features and each room nicely decorated and different from the others. This meant we all chose our rooms without any arguments because there was somehthng to suit everyone.
It was beautifully set up for Christmas and really made us feel very festive. There was plenty of room, including seating all of us in both the dining room and the lounge and the added benefit of a big log fire in the lounge made it very homely and even more festive. The kitchen was big and well equipped which meant there was no problem with 9 people all doing different things for breakfast. No queuing for bathrooms either, which makes a nice change.
The location is great with access to everything in the town. We ate at the restaurant 'Milano' one night and had a very nice meal, with excellent service. Would also recommend a visit to Ludlow and the Castle.
Communication and information from the owners prior to our arrival was excellent,

“Truly a home from home, far exceeded expectations.”

We arrived, a party of nine, all adults, to spend New Year having a family reunion. We had not seen each other for over a year as we are spread out across the world. We wanted somewhere to relax and spend time together but also to have enough interesting things around to keep us occupied.
The information sent prior to our arrival was excellent, anything you could have possibly needed to know had been included in the extensive email. The house itself was easy to find and although there was no parking included, there was ample nearby and the lack of parking caused no problems whatsoever.
The house itself is very old and when we entered, we were welcomed by lovely Christmas decorations which set the tone for our holiday. The Christmas tree in the lounge, the lovely wreaths and baubles in the dining room and amazing garlands winding up the stairs really gave such a warm fuzzy feeling that it would have been impossible not to have the holiday spirit. I particularly liked the fat fairy, and went in every shop in Leominster to see if I could source one for myself.!! We had a lovely basket of goodies to eat and a very nice bottle of Prosecco to toast the New Year left as gifts from the owner. This was a lovely touch and was very much appreciated.
The house was beautifully furnished in keeping with its age and was truly a home from home. Everything that we needed had been thoughtfully provided. The lounge has a wonderful open fire and we had three big baskets of wood and kindling to use with more in the shed if required. At night it was lovely to sit in the lounge with the fire lit and enjoy drinks and nibbles. The kitchen is very well equipped so we were able to cook and enjoy a family meal on New Years Eve. The rest of the time we either ate out or had a take away. There are ample places nearby in the town that can supply just about anything.
Bedrooms were large and very comfortable and the three bathrooms meant there were no problems when we all needed to get ready to go out.
Being in the middle of town was great as Leominster has lots of interesting shops and it was nice to explore without having to walk miles. The towns of Hereford and Ludlow are very close by and provide both shopping and historic buildings to explore.
We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend Ranfurley House as an excellent place to stay.

Liked best: The effort that went into decorating the house for us and all the extra little touches that just made it a special visit.
Liked least: Lack of plug sockets close to mirrors in bedrooms for hair dryers.

Hi Karen, thanks for such a lovely review. As for the "fat fairy" we just can't remember where we got it!
So glad you all had a lovely time and made the most of your stay. It gives us great pleasure to know that you loved the house, especially as it's over 400 years old. We'd love to welcome you all back sometime so don't leave it too long before re acquainting yourself with Ranfurley House and Leominster.
Very best wishes,
Sue and Craig

“Lovely house with character in a great location”

Stayed here with my wife for a weekend in December. The weather wasn't too kind but this is the sort of place you don't really mind with cosy living room and open fire. Great selection of large bedrooms, some with en suite, filled with antique furniture. There is free car parking nearby but you can park directly outside briefly to unload. Lots of antique shops nearby as well as the welcoming Grape Vaults pub. We were very happy with our choice and look forward to coming again!

Just wanted to leave a review to say how great this house was. Good quality decor and large rooms made for a very comfortable stay. The big fire made all the difference at this time of year. Large and well equiped kitchen that made cooking for a big group very easy.

BIg thank you to Susan who helped us out when we had questions, and for leaving the prosecco and other goodies that were very much appreciated! There has already been talk of returning in future years.

Hi, and thanks for your kind review. It's so good to know that you enjoyed the house and of course you'd be welcome to return. We find a few days is never enough in Herefordshire as there's so much to do. I know we're biased but we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and our comfy home. You're welcome back anytime!

All the best and thanks again,

Sue
