“Nice, clean hotel”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Stayed here for just one night and it was a lovely hotel. Great easy to get to location and a fab fitness centre and pool attached which is free for guests. The room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was very good with a great range and a newspaper. When we were shown our room we didn't have the requested extra bed for our 10 year old son, so - at 9.30pm - Kevin on reception (who was brilliant and very helpful) arranged for us to be moved and also helped in getting us some food through room service (who weren't answering their phone). All the staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. They are definitely an asset to the hotel. We will stay again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: Ours was overlooking the car park at the front of the hotel and was quiet. The rooms to the rear we...

My sister and I booked a night away and was pleasantly surprised with the standard of accommodation. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much bother. We stayed in a superior room which was a good size and overlooked the garden. The bed was extremely comfortable. The food was great - dinner was a little overpriced, but the breakfast was a well-stocked, good choice buffet. We used the Nuffield gym facilities next door (in the same grounds as the hotel) for free.

There are a couple of great pubs down the road if you didn't want to eat at the hotel.

Room Tip: Room facing the gardens - nice view.

I booked this hotel via an Amazon.local deal as a Birthday surprise for my partner. We were greeted very warmly by all staff (even though 5 mins late to the restaurant due to traffic) and had a really relaxing stay. The dinner was excellent (with good recommendations). The bottle of Prosecco in our room was enjoyable, the room was clean and spacious and the bed...so comfortable. Breakfast consisted of an extensive choice of fresh, locally sourced items (as did dinner the night before). One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable, we will be back.

Room Tip: We will possibly ask to overlook the grounds next time, (just for a more scenic view) and we will al...

My wife and I stayed here for two nights on a Groupon deal and overall it was a very pleasant stay. We paid £139 for the two nights which included a three course meal on the first night and breakfast both days. The menu in the evening is short but there is sufficient choice and the items included in the deal are set out in bold. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, although we did have to wait for eggs both days. There's a small bar area next to the Dining Room. We stayed in the older part of the hotel and the room was clean and well presented and a nice touch was a small bottle of water left in the room each day. Parking is mainly at the front and a few spaces at the back. The staff were friendly and polite. We enjoyed our stay and would definately go back, but do look out for the Groupon deals.

Staff could not be faulted. Reception, restaurant etc. were all extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Just could not be faulted.

Great food, lovely evening meal, fabulous breakfast with a really good selection of cereals, fruit, bacon, egg etc. Could not ask for more.

Loads of parking. Even though there was a wedding on when we stayed, we had no trouble parking as there were so many spaces available.

King size executive room had a great bed, reasonable bathroom, good cupboard space BUT not one single drawer. This is why we gave 4 and not 5 stars. Cannot understand why a set of drawers were not in the room. Left nowhere to put underwear, t-shirts etc. Very odd.

Overall, a very comfortable stay and will definately return

Room Tip: Pick a kingsize executive

Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay here at Letchworth Hall.

I was delighted to see your comments with regards to the staff and your overall experience. I will be passing these on to the individual teams so that they can see how much their hard work is appreciated.

With regards to drawers, although we dont have a standard set in the bedrooms but there is shelving in the wardrobe where you can put t-shirts etc in. The doors of the wardrobe then close so that everything is put away and not on show.

Once again thank you for your feedback and i do hope that we have the pleasure in welcoming you back to Letchworth Hall in the very near future.

Kind Regards

Lisa

We recently stayed here having purchased a deal through Amazon Local. Everything was really nice: the staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms were spotless and comfortable and the bottle of chilled prosecco that was awaiting us upon our arrival was very nice too! The deal included dinner which was delicious, although I think I may have considered it a bit expensive had I been paying full price for it. Our waitress (sorry didn't get her name) was lovely and chatty and really made us feel welcome. Breakfast was really good too, serve in the grand hall. The main downer I would say is that we thought there was going to be full spa facilities (totally our misunderstanding). It's actually a leisure centre next door that guests can use. That's great for full on exercising, but not so much for relaxing. A very small negative for us personally though. Would definitely stay here again if we found another similar deal. Especially as we only live an hour away.

We stayed on an offer package finding it excellent value for money. Would have felt less favourable if we'd paid the supposed 'full price'as the rooms whilst nice, clean and roomy are bog standard hotel chain, nothing special, think good, newish Premier Inn.

Overall the hotel was very good, a bit tired in places but the grounds were lovely and well maintained. Menu is a bit unimaginative, aimed at a market 'of a certain age' with roasts, salmon roulade, black forest cheesecake, sundae etc but perfectly nice, no complaints. Service was generally good, a good head waiter/maitre d' person but when he wasn't visible the rest of the staff seemed to slack off a bit and it took a long while to get our bill (which was wrong) and we eventually had to get up and find someone to pay.

One suggestion, perhaps let the 'offer' customers know what is included as it's not detailed on the vouchers. I had to ask the receptionist for info about any restrictions on menu choices and whether any drinks were included, he didn't volunteer anything. When I checked-out there was another customer querying his bill, he'd misunderstood part of the offer. Overall a good couple of days.
