My daughter and I stayed here for one night before an early morning flight from Stansted. I booked online via email and nothing was too much trouble, all correspondence was so friendly. We even left our car at The Cottage for the duration of our trip (5 days) for the princely sum of £5 and Jan organised a taxi for us for early the next morning. Amazing service and great value. As we left early the next morning we didn't have any breakfast but I can imagine it would be as wonderful as everything else about The Cottage. Having trawled the internet looking for somewhere reasonably priced and close to Stansted I'm not sure how I stumbled across this B&B but am so glad I did. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again and fully recommend this wonderful find.

We stayed here when flying from stansted, it is the most beautiful per Tudor building, we were given two rooms at the top a staircase double bed with on suite for me and my husband with a very clean travel cot then across the landing my daughter stayed in a twin. Both rooms were immaculate. The owners were very welcoming and even dropped us free ofcharge to a local pub they recommended. We had an early start so missed out on breakfast. Would love to return for a weekend visit

We stayed here for one night prior to leaving for Cyprus the following day. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room. It was in keeping with the age of the building but with all the mod cons.

We slept well, unusual for me in a strange bed, and enjoyed an excellent breakfast before leaving for the airport.

We are already looking forward to our next visit. Our taxi was organised for us and we felt comfortable and at home.

WE LOVE YOU JAN AND MICHAEL! Can we stay again?

We're nearly half-way through our trip through Europe and this has been far and away the most historic and affordable B&B we have stayed in (we're in the 20s now...). What a blessing after 13 hours on a plane to be led through a 400 year old house with exposed beams and whitewashed walls, past the beautiful fireplace to the reading room and up the tiny warped staircase to our abode.

Jan and Michael are just lovely and always ready for a chat, absolutely the best place (and at only 55 pounds a night, one of the cheapest) around Stanstead. May they be there forever!

We stayed here for three nights for a family wedding and we could not have found a better place to base ourselves. It is very handy for Stansted airport, we had people arriving by bus and train as well as plane. If you like wonderful old cottages with character, good and friendly service , excellent breakfasts and help and advice on tap then this is the place for you. It is not a travel lodge and all the better for that.It is comfortable and a relaxing place to stay and far better than than many B&Bs twice the price

We had the pleasure of staying here on June 17th 20ll, after searching the web a cple of days was sick of the same old crap! Dont know how i stumbled across this place but what a pleasure, Jan was the pefect host and even drove us to the pub up the road for an evening meal! Very nice comfortable room and ensuite, i very rarely sleep and found myself having a good rest in the comfy bed, my 3 year old Henry ejoyed the little bed she made up for him, we opted for the continental breakfast and am sad to say we could not eat that much at 7am as we were full from the evening meal the night before, it looked lovley and we enjoyed what we ate, the perfect place to start your holiday and only minutes from Stansted airport, excellent rates and value safe parking, highly recomend! We stayed at this B & B before and after our trip to France in September. We found the room to be very comfortable, very historical, exceptionally clean, the bed very comfortable, tea and coffee making available in the room and downstairs the use of a beautiful lounge room. Takeley is a delightful village and good walking directly from the Cottage. Mine hosts Jan and Michael the most delightful people you would ever wish to meet - very helpful and hospitable. The location of The Cottage is very quiet and relaxing. The full English breakfast was magnificent and kept us going during our long trip back to Australia. When we visit Europe again our first stop will be at The Cottage. All in all top of the range and highly recommended to others.
