The Hideaway is in a lovely quiet spot just minutes by car from the centre of Ventnor (or half an hour on the coastal path if you're on foot). The bedroom and bathroom are downstairs below the kitchen/diner/sitting room. Upstairs has sea views and a tv/dvd/satellite system with a few movies and books in case you forget to bring enough. Outside there is room to sit in the courtyard in front plus spacious terraced lawn and decking with loungers out the back. There are great walks around or across the island from the front door to the north, east and west, while Monks Bay with its shingle beach is literally a couple of minutes south. The only things that could improve the place would be a bath, a washing-up draining rack and a slightly firmer mattress.
This was our first visit to the hideaway but definitely won’t be the last...infact what prompted this review was we were looking at what summer availability is like!
We’ve visited the island before, living close in Portsmouth, but have seen a whole new side of it now. The house is utterly gorgeous - small and perfectly formed. If you’re looking for somewhere for a cosy few days this is where you need to be. The views are breathtaking, and there’s loads of things to do within walking distance. We recommend the botanical gardens and walking down to steep hill cove. My favourite part of the whole holiday though was laying in bed listening to the waves crashing though, sooooo relaxing.
Thanks lucy for an awesome break, and for helping me find a taxi!!!

This was our forth time at the Hidaway and still as beautiful ever. Very clean cottage with everything you would need. Situated in a stunning spot with the beach right on your doorstep. Excellent walks to shanklin and ventnor were you can find great places to eat. Can't wait to be back again.
This little cottage is amazing - in a beautiful setting less than a minute's walk away from an almost private beach. That's if you can bear to leave the stunning, totally private terraced garden where you can watch the ships and sailing boats pass by whilst you listen to all the bird song in the surrounding trees.
The cottage is so light and bright, with modern fittings and really clever use made of the space. The guest book shows many couples return again and again - we can completely see why,
Tastefully decorated and secluded location with well equipped kitchen. Driving in Bonchurch and access to the property is not for the faint hearted driver though, but Lucy gives clear directions and also good tips for local things to see and do and places to eat. The IOW is beautiful and unspoilt and well worth a visit. Would highly recommend.
