Yet another lovely meal at Amabi and this time we discovered a lovely red wine from Spain and we promptly bought a case! Jenny is a great hostess, friendly and professional. The chef took particular care to come and talk to me about my nut allergy which was impressive. We like the atmosphere here and the different selections on the menu. Our food was cooked exactly how we like it, on occasions we have ordered rare steak and pink lamb only to be disappointed- definitely not this time. We can thoroughly recommend the Amabi Cheesecake - a different twist and consistently good. We hope it won't be another 6 months before we visit again!

Agreed, make sure it isn't another six months before your next evening with us.

Very good to see you that night, and delighted to hear you had a lovely evening Amabi. That was a night we a day we shan't forget in a hurry. Sunday certainly wasn't a day of rest there!

We had a price is wight voucher for steak dinner and sangria. The waiter bless him was lovely. I had medium rare, my partner had medium to well done, with no blood from it. They arrived. Mine was rare there's was rarer. Blood was running from it. We sent it back twice, it then came back medium. Bearing in mind we had cut it up into smaller slices to make it easier for the chef to cook . They need to learn the rule of thumb. They did knock off the cost of one of the starters as goodwill. Won't go back again. Sorry. Steak is so easy to cook. Just press down to see if blood is still running through.

We must express our deep disappointment in this review contradicting an otherwise overwhelmingly positive reaction from diners since the introduction of our Steak Menu. It really is regrettable that Tripadvisor not truly reflecting our diner's satisfaction from Amabi.

Hearing that you so adamantly voice feelings that you shan't return also saddens us; with us welcoming all diners to return, whether leaving memory be positive or negative - most especially the latter, as we feel strongly that it is truly an unfair reflection gained through an exception to otherwise positive work we do at Amabi.

Whilst we always endeavour to cook all our steaks perfectly to requested diner preference, you must appreciate that the instruction given to our chefs of 'medium' with 'no blood' are in themselves contradicting terms. The process that you suggest our chefs use, of pressing the steaks is also something that we train them not to do. This process releases the juice within the steak that gives the flavor and taste - so to insure that maximum flavour is held within the meat during the cooking process, and to avoid serving dry steaks - we actively avoid the process that you suggest.

Our front of house staff are attentive in diner satisfaction once meals have left the kitchen, none more so than with the cooking of steaks. It is this attentiveness that left us actively insisting against initial reluctance for the steak to be taken to the kitchen again. This reluctance came after the steak had been cut up. The steak wasn't cut up for the intended convenience of requesting it to be cooked again.

Whether you choose return to Amabi, or choose not to as declared, we would warmly suggest that in future when conveying preference to how steak is cooked - suggestion of 'Well Done' is given.

We have used your review to further educate ourselves in the structure of our meats that we serve - to be able to increase the knowledge and information that we can pass on to our guests. Thus if you do not wish to have the juices that are often mistakenly known as the 'blood' within your steak. Although as warning, these juices hold the protein and flavour of the meat - so the cooking to removal of juices in nature removes the flavor held in the meat.

My partner and I had a lovely relaxing lunch at Amabi last Saturday. The Spanish flavour is achieved by authentic Basque food, the lovely decor, and finally the music - which was perfect (most restaurants spoil the experience by getting this simple element wrong). Each Tapas costs around a fiver, and you need maybe three to feel full. The hostess was warm, welcoming and informative, and we couldn't fault a thing. I would certainly recommend the prawns in garlic.

Lovely true tapas, unfortunate back street setting and I hope they can survive there as the food and ambience are worth heading out of town to.
