This hotel falls into the category of olde worlde, but yet its individualism was a pleasant change from bland modern hotels. The rooms are all individual and what they lack in power points they make up for in genuine charm.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout out 3 night stay. The food was very good both at breakfast (cooked fresh) and dinner. Although there was a wedding on the Saturday night it did not impact on the service or quality of our meal.
If we were going to travel to Isle of Wight again, this would be our first port of call.

Room Tip: As each room is individual discuss any specific requirement when booking ie separate shower

We went to the Albert and a staff member who was just passing greeted us, we asked if there was a possibility of a table for that evening. Without even checking their reservations he just said "no", we have a busy day TOMORROW. And that was that! Much like the other review where they were running late, no thought for the poor old consumer - the staff here need some training in Customer Care - before they ruin this place and then the Management wonder why takings are down!
Personally I would recommend not using this place at all.

I stayed at this hotel as part of an anniversary present. Me and my boyfriend stayed for only one night as we actually are both from the island. We are both very busy and committed soo it was a lovely little break.

On arrival our day couldn't have been more special they are very lucky with the grounds and location cause both are breath taking!! But also I love this history behind it all. We may have looked very young but I'm actually management for a 4 star hotel on the island and to say I was impressed was an understatement it was totally up my street, so individual and vintage but yet with taste. The rooms were still functional for the modern day person. I only left this morning and I already want to go back GREAT value for money. My only down point is on the website they should put more photos of there rooms, grouds ets.. People really are missing out

We stayed for two nights, before and after my nephew's wedding taking place in the beautiful hotel grounds. The initial feel is of an exclusive and luxurious guest house. The rooms are a reasonable size and quite well equipped. On the downside the bed was small - feet resting on the bottom of the bedstead all night - the temperature was uncomfortably hot and one window was broken and displayed a "do not open" sign. Otherwise, everything was fine - spotlessly clean, great shower in a nice en suite bathroom and flat screen tv (though never actually turned on).

The grounds are very pleasant, helping to create a wonderful atmosphere for the outdoor wedding ceremony aided by a lovely sunny day. During the wedding, the staff were polite and efficient, happily accommodating the somewhat inebriated wedding guests.

The overall experience was very good and to be recommended, especially for wedding parties

We stayed here for Cowes week 2013 and this is ideally situated, roomy and comfortable. The staff are very helpful, grounds a pleasure although reception is a little quirky, it's basically the entrance hall with a desk against the wall. Don't be put off by the rather stern footnote on the booking telling you that if you break anything you'll pay for it, this is the only bit that put us off a little, it feels like you're being talked down to but the staff soon make you feel very welcome and we had a very relaxing stay.

My wife and i had a very relaxing weekend and were made to feel very welcome on arrival by Richard who was there to greet us and pass us the keys - after that we were left to be very much on our own which was exactly what we were expecting.

Our room was luxurious and very large and so was the bathroom and overall probably quite a bit bigger than many flats people live in permanently - the style and fittings matched and nothing seems worn or faded or dusty at all - so really top marks

This hotel feels like a positive hybrid of a hotel and private cottage both in style and facilities and it has style and atmosphere in abundance ... because you're right next to Osbourne House and it was part of the royal estate it feels like it has the continuity of that heritage.

After checking in we decide to head out and explore and it was with slight surprise that one of the maids explained we couldn't go into Osbourne House through the truly enormous entrance gate right next to the hotel as this is reserved only 'for the Queen' ... instead we walked the long way round (not really long at all) and walked in the 'proper' entrance and had a cup of tea in the Osbourne House tea rooms.

The weather was better on our second day which always makes a difference with one's positive mental attitude. and also started well as the breakfast was really excellent in (again) a very well decorated and in-period breakfast room - the breakfast options were extensive (smoked haddock/porridge/ full english) with breakfasts individually cooked and not from a buffet - it all added to boutique atmosphere of this very charming and affordable hotel.

We really had nothing to complain about at all but the only thing that would have been great to experience was their restuarant which seemed to be closed in the evenings whilst we were staying - there had been good reviews and even menues on the website - we'll have to come back another time to have dinner - and wont be a hardship at all !!

We held a family wake here for a beloved elderly relative and felt it was a perfect venue...it was formal and dignified but relaxed at the same time. For a smaller occasion you could use the bar and patio area. Really convenient for the crematorium and the ferry.

The grounds are beautiful, especially on a sunny day...and the hotel has a lovely atmosphere, so much history. We peeked in through the windows of Queen Victorias summer house.

The food was excellent with gluten free food provided as requested. I don't drink normal tea and I was shocked at being charged £2 for a green tea but we hadn't requested this originally so there you go.

We were shown some of the bedrooms when deciding on a venue and they looked lovely, all individual, very tasteful and full of character.

On the whole the staff were really good, unfortunately there was one girl who seemed moody and so this let them down somewhat, especially considering the occasion.

The cost was very reasonable.

Would love to go back for a happier event next time!
