Simply it's not very nice. Staff are fine but it's not cheap and the food is distinctly average, flacid chips, grey overcooked peas etc. It's not that cheap either.

Popular with old people which some would say should have been a warning sign.

Won't be going again. That's for sure.

Stopped off our coastal walk for a quick lunch. Ye olde worldy cafe with a traditional menu.
Model trains whizzing round the wall above our heads. Lovely touch for the dads and children.
Egg and bacon bap with a mug of tea hit the spot. Coffee and walnut cake was so nice its a must try.
Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere too.

One night stay before walking the costal path, keys left in pub next door, room good. Breakfast from attached cafe which had a huge choice and was good . For what I needed it was ideal and only 2 or 3 minutes from the ferry . I will without any doubt use it again

We should have turned on our heels on entering this restaurant for lunch but I had my elderly disabled parents with me and there was a disabled parking bay outside so it was convenient.
For starters it was carpeted - who carpets a restaurant? The carpet was extremely filthy. The food was OKish but when we visited the toilets the area we passed through was quite disgustingly dirty. There were old cooking appliances, dirty highchairs and everything was just dreadful.
This place needs a visit from the Health & Hygiene inspector.

I would have given two stars but the owner let us use a room to store our bikes overnight which was appreciated. Without that we would not have stayed. This is a hostel and looks like somewhere ferry workers might stay. Beyond basic really, old mismatching furniture which I personally don't care about but terrible sagging matresses which are piled up rather than having one. Our room had four single beds, a small fridge and kettle but no running water. Bathroom on the landing. There was a container with tea bags etc but one of the milk sachets had split so it was all spoilt.totally lacks any comforts at all including bedside lights which can be very cheap. Bathroom used as a store room but shower not bad. It was hard to believe any thing in the room has ever been cleaned. Breakfast downstairs in the tea room, average. Central location good, if you seek even a very basic comfort level avoid.
