“Saturday night in Cowes”
Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

Simply a great place to stay, super room very clean and tastefully decorated. A good location for a night in Cowes a ten minute walk. The owner Mark is most accommodating and efficient and was particularly helpful when our ferry was cancelled. Breakfast was very good and efficiently served. We would return here.

I have an instinctive and visceral horror of independent hotels and B&Bs. You are immediately thrust into the owners' own eccentric view of how guests should behave in their house, and how they should behave towards you. Too often this involves them having an extremely high opinion of their own chintz-laden version of Norman Bates' mother's bedroom, and expecting you to remain pathetically grateful for the opportunity to spend a lot of money on their chance to condescend and scowl. Marvellously, if the owners of the Caledon have an eccentricity, it's that they're utterly charming, friendly and hospitable. The rooms and the communal areas are simply and attractively decorated in a modern style. Despite us only staying for one night, and not having any particular demands, we nonetheless really felt looked after. Breakfast was splendid. Would easily recommend.

Lovely place to stay. Simply done to a very high standard. Very good value for money. Breakfast was a particular highlight. If only all B&Bs were run as professionally as the Caledon. Although only there for one night would have willing spend an entire week there.

Pretty house, well set up room, as shown in the photographs on the website. The location of the guest house is also very good. Very close to the Cowes Ferry point. Breakfast was good, sumptuous. We spend a night in the Caledon house and were very happy with the place

We will definitely want to stay again when we visit IoW

Lovely house, clean rooms. Especially liked the breakfast room. Light and airy. Very close to shops, bars and restuarants which are just down the hill. Breakfast is very yummy with a good selection. Will be returning in the spring and hopefully it won't be raining!!

Stayed here before and it was just as excellent this time

Breakfasts brilliant, room 3 large and well fitted out, hosts really nice people. 5 minutes walk down the hill to central Cowes or 50 yards to bus stop which takes you to Newport and from there anywhere else in the island

Free wifi with a decent signal

Look at all the awrds displayed in the residents lounge - you don't get those by accident!

Room Tip: Only stayed in room 3 (twice) but can recommend it - overlooks the main road but no noise

We spent a very nice family stay in The Caledon Guest House. Very nice and warm welcome from Mark the owner. The guesthouse is well located. The rooms are very clean and modern, and the breakfast is simply delicious.
