“Fantastic family holiday, better than centre parks”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

Just returned from a week holiday and stay in coastal cottage. It was fantastic. The check in was easy and received a friendly greeting. The cottage was warm and clean. The beds were very comfortable. My children went to the pool most days and loved the simplicity of just being able to swim in peace and have fun. We had a lovely welcome pack, it included milk, butter, bread and even a bottle of fresh water. There was a bus stop near by. We went all around the island on bus which was only 25 pounds for 5 and lasts 24 hrs. The bus drivers are friendly and very helpful.
Checking out was easy and we were sorry to leave the island. Will return and recommend.

Stayed at yarmouth cottage. The cottage it's self was lovely. Nice dining area and bedrooms. The welcome pack was very useful as it had numbers of local takeaways and postcodes for recommended places to visit. The hot tub was great and so was the pool. The only negative for me, which was a big disappointment, was I felt it could have been cleaned to a better standard. Cob webs in most rooms, items from previous guests found under beds. The high chair we had paid extra for was very grubby and sticky and didn't end up using as a result. And the biggest disappointment was the bathroom. Lots of mildew around probably due to extractor fan not working. Overflow in sink was black. Please don't let the cleaning let your beautiful holiday park down.

This holiday was fantastic. The cottage was lovely & clean. Was a quiet place & 5 mins walk from the sea. Was defo worth the money. Didn't want to come home. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough.

My husband called the reception of island view holiday for the easter weekend hoping to find something for a weekend getaway. He spoke to Vicki and she booked us in the cottage with a hot tub. Less than 24 hours prior to us checking in, we had a call from Claire who informed us we were double booked by their 3rd party agency (assuming hoseseasons) by human error and hence they would prefer if we cancelled our holiday! As I was almost near southampton at this stage (after travelling 200 miles) I clearly wasnt happy for us to cancel our holiday. So the next option given to us was either accomodate us in a lower end cottage or if we can reschedule our holiday - come back on a later date! We wanted to speak to a manager and were transferred to Manager Dave who had nothing else to add and said the same thing! There was no explanation on why the agency was given preference over us or how this had gone un-noticed till the last minute!

We werent happy to have to change plans last minute as it was a special weekend for us plus the stress just before starting the holiday just dampened our spirits.

In the end we were given a cottage without the hot tub with the option to return on a later date for free but it seemed too little too late. I booked us in another hotel on the isle and we stayed in the cottage for just one night.

We were given the refund of our stay but as we had explained to the manager, it was not about the money. Our holiday was almost ruined just because of someone's in-efficiency plus no one over the phone seemed to understand this matter on a humane basis! Apart from the stress, the waste of plans, the waste of food we had carried but most of all the replanning of the entire weekend - not worth it!

On the hindsight, the lady who received us at the cottage was extremely helpful and very very attentive... The 2 stars are for her :)

Cottages - as per the brochure. Standard 2 bed bungalow with shower and bath...

I personally wouldn't return but its not a bad holiday spot. Especially the Colwell beach and the little cafe on it. Good spot for families but just be 100% sure they are going to accomodate you when you turn up!

The decor of the bungalow was clean and bright. We stayed in the Freshwater Cottage which is a two bedroom bungalow but sleeps 6. We slept on the sofa bed which wasn't the comfiest but we got used to it by the of the week! Reception provided us with another duvet to sleep on which was a little better. The pool is small but enough for my husband and children (aged 8 and 11). We stayed in bungalow 3 which got the evening sun out the front so we sat on the patio furniture having a drink at the end of the day. The kitchen is well stocked with a dishwasher (don't forget your dishwasher tablets), washer/dryer, microwave, oven, fridge and full size freezer. The tea, coffee, milk, bottled water, bread and butter was a nice touch. Towels were provided which was a bonus. The only thing I felt was the bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have liked it and yes, as per previous reviews, the shower screen leaks, if the shower head is pointing in the wrong direction, and the floor is a little squidgy where it has got wet in the past. The bungalows are literally a 5 min walk to the beach. Whilst the site was full, it was still peaceful. All in all, it was a great holiday. We stayed in April half term and had lovely weather. Check out Blackgang Chine because, if you go once, you can return for free for the rest of the week. My two children loved it, especially the new dinosaur area. We will definitely be going back :)

Not all of the cottages look like those in the brochure. Stayed in the alum, as we didn't have a hot tub you didn't get much outside space. No space at back and what outside space you did have was small and right on road. Children had to be accompanied at all times as chalets all close to road with cars parked either side. Could not get out of car as a passenger as had to park close to wall. They say they have been refurbished, the furniture in lounge and bedrooms is fairly new but the bathrooms and kitchens are very dated. Our bathroom had lots of black mould you would not expect to see on refurbished accommodation. There were lovely dressing tables with mirrors but no plugs nearby so take you extension lead. Selection of knives, no chopping board. Unsure about cleanliness, skirting boards and windowsills very dusty so obviously not cleaned for a while. I was lead to believe as it was a daisy door accommodation it would be special but I was disappointed as have stayed in far better hoseasons accommodation that was immaculate. No changing rooms at swimming pool. They offer free wifi but it's only first 100mb then charged, not very good mobile signal either. The situation of the cottages was great for Yarmouth ferry and for the pretty side of the island. The island is so small it's not far to anything.
