One of the nicest b&b's we have ever stayed in.It would be a very difficult person indeed who could find fault with our hosts, service, food or accommodation.A very friendly and relaxed atmosphere in which we felt completely at home.

We spent two nights at Tania and Peter B&B, staying in the lodge; a wonderful big room with couch, tv, king bed, big bathroom (and shower!) and some drinks and bits. Room was clean and in perfect condition. One of the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on!
The garden of the B&B is amazing, full of flowers and colours - breakfast is superb (we had the full English one - delicious) and the owners (Tania and Peter) always helped us with some tips about the island (what to see, where to go to eat) that were absolutely useful!
The location is handy for the west side of the island, including the Needles and parking available in the streets nearby.
I'd reccommend it to anyone, including myself if I'll come back to the Isle of Wight!
P.S.Only one thing to be careful about; you should leave the room at about 11am as they would be able to clean it and have time for themselves as they make clear that it is a B&B and not an hotel where to stay all day.

This was our second visit and it was as before, simply wonderful. Behind the front door is an oasis of relaxation, hospitality and delicious food. This visit we took friends with us and they were just as impressed as we are and had a fabulous time too.
The pancakes and fruit is to die for and every bit as enjoyable as I remembered from last year.
A very special home with two very special people. You will simply not find a better B&B anywhere.

Room Tip: We have stayed in Sunrise twice now and it is lovely room.

We stayed at Criers Croft for three nights, and could easily have spent more time there. Tania and Peter made us feel very much at home, and provided a wealth of knowledge about the island. The breakfasts are amazing (and very generous!), and the rooms and garden are beautiful.

As far as location goes, Freshwater is a great place to go for somewhere quieter and more relaxing without being too far away from things to do. There's a good pub in walking distance that does nice dinners, and a short drive into Yarmouth provides a wide variety of restaurants.

Our third stay at Criers Croft was just as enjoyable as the previous two. This time we were in the Sunset room for two nights and we have now stayed in three of the four rooms (the Sunrise room, the Lodge and the Sunset room). Although the smallest, the Sunset room is our favourite, but we would probably choose the larger Lodge or the Loft room for a stay of more than two or three days. As always, our welcome from Tania and Peter was very warm and they did all that they could to make sure our stay was perfect. It really is impossible to find fault with Criers Croft and we are planning to return for four or five days next year.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are lovely. We would probably choose the larger Lodge or the Loft room for a stay...

The most warm welcome met us at the door. And this relaxed and comfortable atmosphere continued throughout our 2 night stay.
Beautifully furnished spaces were decorated and detailed to compliment the layout of the most exquisite B and B I have ever stayed at!
Close to the beaches and with easy access to small shops which cater for anything you may need, the location was perfect. A 10 minute drive from the ferry yet secluded and peacefully nestled away. We will be back again :) xxxx

We stayed at Criers Croft for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary. Having read the reviews on Tripadvisor and seen photos of the rooms & breakfasts, we decided this was the place for us as it seemed to tick the right boxes for luxury & relaxation. This it certainly did, and then some. I often see reviews that make reference to hosts who simply couldn't do enough for you. This always seems quite gushing, but this is the first time where we've felt such genuine warmth from our hosts throughout the stay.

We arrived mid-afternoon on a Friday and Tania greeted us warmly at the door before giving us the guided tour. First to our room - Criers Loft - a self-contained luxury suite that spans the whole of the first floor of the building. The suite is accessed via a staircase with a small landing at the top. The bathroom is through a door to the left with the bedroom through a door to the right.

On entering the bedroom, we were really hit by the "wow factor". It's a pretty big room with a superking bed, a dressing area with armchair & clothes rail, a lounge area with a 2-seater sofa & TV, and double doors that open onto a private verandah with outdoor seating & views over the beautiful landscaped garden.

The bed was extremely comfortable with a memory foam mattress and a memory foam topper. I suspect the pillows were also memory foam. As a sufferer of back pain, being away from home for a length of time can take it's toll. But this bed was just so comfortable. It completely enveloped me and gave me 3 wonderful nights' sleep, feeling completely fresh each morning. Very rare. The bedding was beautiful too. Each evening we would return to the room to find the bed had been turned down with a chocolate placed on each pillow. Lovely :-)

The TV in the lounge area is equipped with Freesat so there's plenty of choice. The TV swivels so it can be watched from the sofa or from the bed. There are pots of tea, coffee & drinking chocolate along with kettle & teapot, and also a mini fridge (which Tania offered to populate with milk). In the dressing area, there was a welcome basket which contained bottled water, chocolate bars, chocolate biscuits, cookies, crackers, and the all important mini bottle of wine! Another lovely touch.

The bathroom has a freestanding roll-top bath which is great for a soak. There is also a monsoon shower which can make the room a bit wet, but the courtesy mop easily deals with any puddles. A feature I really liked was the twin sinks & mirrors which means a couple can get ready together if they want. The toiletries were also luxurious and the towels were the softest & fluffiest I've even used.

We then got shown around the kitchen-diner and the garden. Clearly a huge amount of work has gone into the garden and you can tell this is a much loved home as well as a business. We were even introduced to Chops, the resident cat (or owner - cat people will understand this).

We then spent a while just chatting away with Tania and we felt right at home, particularly as we were told that it was fine to bring our own wine into the room, and were invited to make use of the main kitchen fridge if we needed anything chilled. So we put a bottle of champagne on ice for later and Tania provided a pari of crystal glasses. When I went to collect later in the evening, I was introduced to Peter who was also very friendly and chatty.

Outside, there is free on-street parking between 4pm-10am Mon-Sat (so perfect overnight), and free all day on Sundays. Outside of those hours there's limited waiting time. But you're on holiday, get out there and enjoy the island. There's also a very large co-op just a few minutes' walk down the round in case you forget to take anything with you. The street is fairly quiet, and almost silent from inside the room.

Breakfast is a massive highlight here and is ordered the night before. This is quite normal for places with such an extensive menu. The menu is available in the room so gave us plenty of time to decide. Each morning, we would start with a bowl of fresh fruit & yoghurt, followed by our choice of cooked food, toast & preserves, and fresh coffee in a cafetiere. All cooked options are massive, and we never left hungry - in fact some days we didn't need lunch! Throughout our stay, we worked through such delights as eggs benedict, kedgeree, scrambled egg with smoked salmon, and the obligatory full English. The kedgeree was my favourite and was simply outstanding, full of flavour, and contained a generous amount of fish.

On the first evening, we asked Tania for recommendations on where to eat. We didn't fancy driving as we'd travelled a long way, so wanted something local. The gastro-pub she recommended (The Red Lion) was only a short 8 minute walk from the hotel, and she even phoned ahead and booked us an excellent table in the window. Evidently we wouldn't have been able to just turn up as others were being turned away due to it being fully booked. On the second evening, we took a short drive to another nearby recommendation (The New Inn) which also had excellent food. Good advice all round!

Each evening on our return, we'd stop for a while and have a catchup chat with Tania and/or Peter. We really were treated like friends and it felt like we'd known them for years rather than days. When we returned on the Sunday night after going out for a nice anniversary meal, we found a vase had been placed on the coffee table with a large red rose freshly cut from the garden - very sweet. On the final morning, we lingered a little for one last natter before setting off. It was sad to be leaving after such a good stay, but it means we'll just have to go back and enjoy more of the same.

In summary, I would say that there are many B&Bs out there that look good, have decent furnishings, and a good quality breakfast. However, what puts Criers Croft ahead of the rest is Tania & Peter - they are Criers Croft, and they give it its soul.
