“Well kept and friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

We stayed for just one night but wish we'd had longer. The site was conveniently located for walks along the coast path, swimming in Colwell Bay and dinner in Yarmouth, with good bus connections. The proprietors were extremely helpful and friendly, and there was lots of information at reception about local activities, services etc. We had plenty of space as there were only three pitches being used, and didn't have to wait for showers or toilets. This may be different in high season. All in all it was a really nice short break and we'll definitely go back.

Positives: Campsite itself is lovely, very clean, in excellent location and great for children
Negatives: Would not advise anyone to stay here simply because of the extremely rude wardens. One of whom swore severely at us. Needless to say after that we left and found somewhere else where the owners were far more friendly.

Heathfield C, Owner at Heathfield Farm Camping, responded to this review, 22 June 2014
As one of the owners of Heathfield Camping we take any negative feedback very seriously. After talking with the wardens (who are my mother and father in-law) they certainly have no recollection of any altercations with any guests. As a family run park we take extreme pride in our park and above all our customer service. Simply put, this "review" could not have happened. The wardens are courteous, professional and extremely helpful to all guests. Why on earth would they go around swearing at paying guests. I would welcome the customer to contact us and reveal who they are. False reviews are extremely detrimental to any business and we urge all perspective customers to Heathfield Camping to read our genuine reviews.

We had the incredible good fortune to choose this site for out first trip to the Isle of Wight with Poppy, our much loved VW camper van from the 11th May. After a couple of showery days the heat wave began and we loved sitting on the grass listening to the bird song and watching the wildlife. There were at most 4 other couples on the site so at times it felt like we had the place to ourselves and the badgers.
There are no hard standings and I know Bob is worried about drainage but camping on grass is so nice after the usual pitches we find where we are sometimes trying to put up an awning on gravel.
Bob and Gaye were very friendly and helpful and I'm sure they enjoyed it not being too busy as much as we did.
This is definitely the best side of the island to be if you like peace and quiet. We had a great time cycling around from Yarmouth, taking our canoe up the Yar and jaunts out to take photos of the sunsets. There's lots and lots of bridleways to explore in this area so plenty of scope for another week's discovery trip next year.

Have had 3 nights here over Easter and it was very peaceful. The pitches are excellent, the site well maintained with very clean facilities and the bonus of the separated dog walking area/field. Whilst here we recommend taking the walks for which the wardens sell maps at 40p each. The 7 miler is a good one for tiring dogs! Be weary though its quite hilly in parts with some steep steps. The local fish and chip shop is excellent and the weather has been also. Beach is not far away and The Hut bar/restaurant is nice to sit at and take in the view with a beer!

Spent three nights camping here the pitches are large with minimal slope and site drains well when it rains. benefits from separate field to exercise dogs and clean washing facilities.
Part of the site has good views across the Solent but is 10mins (sadly not our pitch) Shops and Beach are 5/10 mins walk away and there are plenty of nice walks around.

We stayed in September 2013 as backpackers and found the site conveniently placed for local buses. It had clean and modern ammenities, friendly helpful wardens and a quiet pleasant camp site. The site is within easy walking distance of local shops, pubs, church, chemist and buses.

Spent the week here following the Bank Holiday in August. The site is very quiet, with spacious pitches, while the facilities are first rate. However, the main thing that sets it apart from others are Bob and Gaye, the wardens. From the moment they welcomed us onsite, to the moment they bade us farewell, nothing was too much trouble. Bob is a constant reassuring presence around the site, meaning that any fears you may have about leaving your tent for the day, to go out an explore the myriad of delights that the island has to offer, are firmly laid to rest, while Gaye could not be more helpful if she tried. We've already booked for next year! One tip for campers who may be wanting to treat themselves to fish and chips on their last evening (as we did) is to get down to the Rainbow Fish Bar in Freshwater early, as it shuts at 8pm!

Room Tip: If you want a quieter pitch, go for the ones down the bottom, but if you want quick and easy access...
