Overall a pretty good site for the UK. A few quirks like the showers and washrooms getting closed at 10:30 but that didn't cause a problem for us.

Prices were reasonable compared to the rest of the island but still dry expensive compared to what we are used to in France.

Not sure what sea view they are talking about. No sea visible from anywhere on site!

Site was well maintained and the wardens seemed to be on top if things. The pitches were of a good size and pleasing to see that there is lots of space left instead of squeezing in more and more pitches.

In an ideal world it would have been good to have another toilet block in the extension field as a bit of a trek in the wind and rain from the pitches down the bottom of the field.

As Islanders who regularly camp on the Island, we were looking forward to trying Heathfield for the first time, especially after reading their fantastic reviews.
The campsite is beautiful, very well maintained, with very clean, adequate facilities ( could do with larger shower/drying room & more toilets ). The pitches are a great size.
However, upon arrival it was evident the wardens took an instant dislike to us - 3 families on 3 adjoining pitches - and the 'welcome' was curt & unfriendly.
We were told off for being too loud whilst still setting up - this was around 4pm!!
We were read a list of rules (do's & don'ts) & instructed to keep our (3) dogs on leads at all times, even within our own camping space/pitches. The warden made regular walks up to our pitches to comment on/tell us for something. Rarely did we see a smile. For the most part of the week, we were the ONLY ones in our field ( the dog-friendly field - apparantly ) but we were constantly badgered about the dogs having a roam, not too far from our tents, dragging their leads behind them, & usually with a child or 3 in tow. Our dogs are very well behaved & rarely barked & never caused a rumpus.
We were told off because the 2 five year olds were playing with (chunky 'bob the builder') trucks in a muddy dip, which had been created by vehicles due to the constant rain. They were "digging up the track" apparantly!!
The children had to walk their bikes to the playing field to ride them & were constantly reminded of this. Again, we were in an empty field for the most part, so who would they bother? Besides, cars were free to drive around (at a very safe for all, 5mph).
On the whole, this is not a site we will stay at again & will NOT be recommending it to our many camping friends.
It just didn't feel family or dog friendly at all. The facilities are there for families & dogs, but the atmosphere & relaxing feel most certainly is not!
We have stayed at many campsites on & off the Island & have always been warmly welcomed & had a great time but we all felt unliked & unwelcome here.

( I will add that SOMEONE'S dog, not necessarily one of ours, as there were 3 others in other parts of the campsite, did a poop outside of the dog exercise area. Unsurprisingly, we were blamed for this misdemeanour & instructed to clear it up, which we did, without comment or complaint. I KNOW it wasn't my dog, which left 5 others it could have been. But once again, that unfriendly finger of blame fell upon us! )

I have never left a negative review for anything, and thoroughly enjoy writing positive reviews, but I felt overwhelmingly compelled to write about our experience as it really wasn't a great one!
I would like to say that the lady who took our booking over the phone was lovely - friendly, efficient & accommodating.

Happy campers here. The management have put some brains into this camping site. 5 washing-up sinks, 3 showers per gender, 5-6 toilets per gender, 1 vegetable prep sink, 1 washer & separate dryer, 1 clothes iron/ironing board (20p per ten minutes, socket can be used for a hair straightener...wonder how we know that?) What more can I say...clean, clean, clean! Generous space for your tent. They'll even book your ferry if you ask (slight discount there). Now check the weather and book soon!

We found this to be an excellent campsite, we do intend to return to the island again and will definitely use this site. The site is very secure and well sectioned off with large pitches, electric hookup is available, several mains water points dotted around, good shower & toilet blocks with "genuine" hot water all day. good tourist info available and helpful wardens on site.
If you're looking for good value for your money at the quieter end of the island, then we could not recommend Heathfield farm enough.

Just returned from a week here and we're very pleased with everything about our stay. We were able to choose our pitch at the time of booking which was great, the pitch was easily large enough for our eight man tent and car and far enough away from neighbouring tents to allow us a nice quiet stay. There are several walks starting straight from the campsite and we enjoyed them all. Great pub, the Vine, in Freshwater about ten minutes walk straight downhill and others within 15 - 20 minutes at Colwell and Totland Bays. Only very small niggle was the shower cubicles which were on the small side but easily manageable for us. The wardens were great, very friendly and helpful and all the facilities we'll maintained and clean. Would love to return.
