“Great pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014 via mobile

Visited this pub with a few mates on a cycling trip and had a great selection of beers and the food was great. Nice and Cosey and had some lovely fish and chips. Must admit though, I thought they were a bit generous with the amount of chips we were given for the group. Will definitely visit when we return in September.

“Sadly lost it's way ...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

A lovely setting, and village. Has a typical country pub feel to it, and a good choice of ales and wines.
However, the food lets this place down. It had a great reputation c2010, where it won awards. But, it has definitely left those days behind. Sadly, the food is average (chips come in a plastic tub, sauces are bland and largely just double cream, and the vegetables come microwaved and 'soggy'). To add to it all it's actually genuinely too expensive for what it really is (you would spend same at Jamie Oliver's or Gordon Ramsay for central London gastro pub experience. That's a shame. Was hoping for more, and think the pub needs to rethink how it can get back to its heyday...

“Not up to scratch”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2014 via mobile

After a good visit last year, this latest visit was very poor. Pre cooked food, poor vegetarian choice, half the menu unavailable. The only freshly prepared food were the vegetables, which were very nice. However, at almost £14 for a main meal this seemed very expensive. They seem to assemble ready cooked items rather than cook real food. For example, whilst very attractive, the pavlova had factory cooked meringues like the sort you buy in supermarkets. Disappointing.

A great pub with great food and friendly service. The cider was good too! We went back there three nights running.

“Didn't plan on good weather and a full beer garden.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

Twelve of us called in on spec over the recent Easter weekend part way through a walk. Plenty of locals sat at a very small bar made for a real bun fight for a drink. The food order took 100 minutes to arrive and that was delivered by a chef because at 2pm the only waitress reached it seemed the end of her shift and headed home. This place must not get a lot of repeat custom.
